According to the legend, in a kingdom which existed centuries ago, lived a breathtakingly beautiful princess. But because of her beauty, she was cursed to remain asleep until the day a prince would wake her up with a kiss.
This is why prince Hyunjin now stood in front of the ruins of the kingdom (supposedly) from the legend.
Most of the buildings were kept intact, but they were barely visible due to all the plants that had grown over them. The area was misty and it didn't seem like the awful mist would disappear any time soon. It made the buildings look like ghosts, giving off an eerie feeling.
Hyunjin stopped his horse in front of the enormous gates, which looked like they would fall apart at any minute due to how old they were.
The prince was alone, clad in armor, carrying his hunting bow and his sword. He came from another kingdom far away, attracted by the mysterious legend.
Hyunjin had just come of age and the first thing he did was leave his homeland in search for adventures. He had no interest in marrying or studying the ancient books which were fundamental in his education as the future king. The prince wanted to roam around the world before he would spend the rest of his days as a king in the castle.
It was quiet. The only thing that could be heard was the quiet rustling of the plants. Hyunjin hopped off of his horse as he made sure that his faithful companion wouldn't run away and then he walked through the old gate. Now he could see the buildings more clearly, as well as the tall tower that stood above everything else. The princess must be sleeping there.
The air felt heavy as if something evil resided within the lost kingdom's walls. After all, this place was cursed.
As the prince neared the tower, he could see silhouettes. They moved unnaturally, almost like zombies.
Fiends.
Hyunjin drew his sword out and engaged the demonic creatures. One by one, he defeated them all. His sword was dripping with black blood. He was sure some of it got onto his armor but he couldn't do anything about it now.
The fiends must have been guarding the palace and it was certain that there were more of them.
The prince entered the tower confidently. Since the first floor was empty, he took the stairs.
It was so quiet that it was almost scary. Each step he took made a noise because of the metallic armor he wore. Whatever lurked in the shadows surely knew of his presence.
After climbing a lot of stairs which seemed to be endless, Hyunjin reached his destination. He could see the door leading to the princess' chambers. However, in front of it stood a huge and ugly demon. The creature was mostly black except for the flames that engulfed it. Hideous horns poked out of the monster's head and spikes lined its long tail.
"You shall not pass." The demon spoke, it's face contorting in an ugly smirk.
Hyunjin remained silent and he knitted his brows in a frown as he took a stance, ready to attack. Despite the heavy armor he wore, the prince moved fast like a lightning. He aimed for the space between the monster's eyes. His blow didn't reach its target since the demon parried it with its horns. It's body suddenly started to glow in red and Hyunjin knew he'd have to avoid the deadly attack. Almost like a dragon, the monster breathed fire in the prince's direction.
The fight was exhausting and it kept going for about five minutes before Hyunjin struck the demon in the heart with his sword. When the monster fell lifeless on the ground, the prince pulled his sword out, blood staining his face as well as everything around. His eyes glinted with a determined stare as he made his way into the princess' chambers.
There, he saw the lines of a body laying on the bed, hidden by the see through curtains. As he neared, Hyunjin was met with a gorgeous face. It was more beautiful than he ever imagined and he was sure that this was the princess. She had long blonde hair and she wore a pink dress. The young prince reached for her hand, feeling how warm it was despite the fact that she looked dead. Her face was pale, like the face of the dead, but her body was warm.
Hyunjin bent over her, gently bringing his lips with hers. It was a brief kiss, then he pulled away and waited for her to wake up.
The color returned to her face as her eyes fluttered open slightly and she fixed her gaze on the young prince.
"Who are you?" The princess asked with a deep masculine voice.
Hyunjin looked confused. Sure, she was beautiful, more than any woman he'd ever seen. But... she had an unusually deep voice for a woman.
While he was staring at her, as if he'd seen a ghost, the princess sat up in her bed.
"Gosh, I can't believe mother did it again!" The princess complained as she stared angrily at her dress. Her gaze soon shifted to the long blond locks that descended down her shoulders. She reached to touch them and then suddenly yanked them off, taking her long hair off as well. Hyunjin could only stare wide eyed at the weird princess.
"P-Princess... Your hair... It's-it's..." Hyunjin pointed in horror at the blonde locks in the princess' hands.
"Princess? What princess? I'm prince Felix. Prince." Felix scoffed as he ruffled his, now short, hair.
"But the legend... Where's this kingdom's princess?" Hyunjin asked, as he looked around.
"There's no princess. I'm an only child. It's my mother - she wanted a daughter, so I assume she was responsible for my current looks." Felix scoffed as he stood up, grimacing at the ugly dress that hugged his body. He didn't miss the once over look that the armored man gave him.
"So you're saying... That you're a man?" Hyunjin stared incredulously at the other's body.
"Of course I'm a man. I already told you, I'm prince Felix." The prince pouted as he rummaged through his wardrobe, looking for more presentable clothes.
"I'm Hyunjin. Also a prince. And now that I saved you... We're supposed to marry." The armored prince grinned. It wasn't so bad. So what if Felix was a man and not a woman? He was still breathtakingly beautiful.
"M-marry?! Oh. OH! Right. You don't look bad. But... You're hurt!" Felix exclaimed as he rushed to Hyunjin's side and gently touched his blood stained face.
"I'm not... Ouch!" Hyunjin winced when the other touched a cut on his cheek.
"Wait here." Felix demanded as he went to grab a cloth and some water to clean his savior's face.
Despite his temper, Felix tended to the prince gently and was careful not to cause him any pain.
"And... Done!" Felix smiled when he finished cleaning the other's face. Now he could get a proper look at the man who saved him. There was no doubt, Hyunjin was handsome. And he was Felix's type.
"Thank you." Hyunjin said lowly as he pulled the prince closer to him by his waist.
Felix's cheeks tinted a beautiful rosy color as he stared up at the other prince's eyes. The distance between them slowly disappeared until they connected their lips again.
Hyunjin pulled off first with a smirk.
"Let's get out of here."
