"I did a background check on him. He isn't who he says he is. His real name is Seo Changbin and he works for the government. Kill him." Shadow's representative hung up as he got his orders.
He knew there was something wrong with this guy as soon as he saw him.
There were two possible scenarios - this Changbin guy was deceiving both him and Phoenix, or they were playing some kind of game together. Either way, he needed to kill him.
"Say, SpearB." The disgusting guy began, nodding at his bodyguards, but it didn't go unnoticed.
Changbin seemed oblivious, though he wasn't. He saw the bulk guys nearing him and blocking his way out. He couldn't run away.
"I think you're not quite who you say you are." The scumbag stared at Changbin sternly before he shifted his gaze at Hyunjin.
"This guy is a traitor. He's selling you out to the government." Shadow's representative spoke calmly, even though he was excited. He wanted to see which side on was Phoenix.
"I wasn't aware of this. It seems like I'll have to discipline him." Hyunjin spoke as his eyes darkened and his aura suddenly turned cold.
"I'm afraid this won't do. My associates want him dead. And he offended you by lying to you. Surely you can't let him get away that easily. Kill him." The lowlife smirked slightly, looking at Phoenix expectantly, waiting to see what he'd do.
"You're right. I can't forgive him for betraying me." Hyunjin's words meant more than he showed and only him and the agent knew that. He remained cold as he took out his silenced pistol, aiming it discreetly at Changbin. He seemed dead serious and it was obvious that he wasn't playing around.
"Not here though. We're in a club.
Take him out." The scumbag ordered.Immediately, the bodyguards pulled the agent up and forced him towards the exit. Changbin couldn't even resist. He had to think of a way to escape. He couldn't spot Jisung but he hoped his partner would find him before it was too late.
Once they were outside, Hyunjin made his childhood friend kneel in front of him as he put his pistol on the traitor's head.
"Any last words?" Phoenix asked coldly as he stared down at him without even blinking.
That's how much he must hate Changbin. And the shorter felt guilty for all the pain he'd caused him.
"I'm sorry for hurting you. But I want you to know that I love you. I always did. Please, be happy." Changbin said nervously due to the confession he made. He had always had feelings for Hyunjin, he just did well at hiding them.
For a brief moment, surprise took over Hyunjin's stone cold features. But only for a moment.
"You never loved me." Phoenix spat angrily as he placed his finger on the trigger.
Next to them, the scumbag watched with amusement in his eyes, oblivious to another pair of eyes that also watched the scene unfold.
Jisung was using the darkness of the night to hide himself. He was observing the situation closely as he had followed the group of people out of the club. The only problem was that he was outnumbered and he only had a pistol. Saving Changbin would be hard.
But Hyunjin was ready to fire a bullet inside the agent's head, so Jisung didn't have much time to think over what to do.
It all happened so fast - Jisung fired a shot at Hyunjin, the bullet only grazing his arm that held the pistol but successfully stopping him from killing Changbin. The scumbag immediately took cover behind his bodyguards as they shot back at Jisung. At this point, Jisung was cornered.
Changbin quickly took the pistol from Hyunjin's hands and aimed it at the bodyguards, successfully shooting them down and saving his partner. Jisung had busied himself with securing Shadow's representative as a hostage - he was valuable and he could provide them with information about the criminal organization.
Hyunjin had hurried to escape, holding his bleeding arm but the wound slowed him down. He didn't get too far before Changbin blocked his path. The taller avoided meeting the agent's eyes as he kept silent. He wasn't going to beg for his life but he wasn't as confident as before either.
Instead of harming him, Changbin took Hyunjin's arm gently, inspecting it worriedly as the assassin could only hiss at the pain.
"Hold still and let me take care of your wound." Changbin commanded.
"Why... I tried to kill you. Why are you being so nice to me?" Hyunjin questioned with a quiet and almost shaking voice.
"I already told you. It doesn't matter if you try to hurt me. I love you and I always will." Changbin replied calmly as he tore a piece of his t-shirt and used it to bandage the taller's wound.
"You're making it hard to hate you..." Hyunjin mumbled, but the agent heard him.
"I'm sorry... For trying to kill you and for acting like a dick." The assassin apologized, avoiding eye contact because he had teared up and it was a matter of time before his tears streamed down his cheeks like tiny rivers. He didn't really hate Changbin, the reason for trying to kill him was that Hyunjin's feelings were hurt and he was blinded with the desire for revenge.
"Hey, it's okay." Changbin spoke softly as he embraced the boy in an attempt to calm him down.
"Um, it seems like I'm interrupting something..." A very confused Jisung spoke as he dragged the handcuffed and unconscious scumbag.
"Jisung, meet my childhood friend - Hyunjin. Jinnie, this is my partner - Jisung." The short boy introduced them to each other nervously, because he was afraid Jisung would find out that Hyunjin was Phoenix.
"He's Phoenix, isn't he?" Jisung narrowed his eyes as he looked at the assassin, who looked more like a child than a criminal because of his tear stained cheeks.
"Yes..." Changbin trailed off. There was no point in lying, Jisung already knew the truth.
"Then you know that we have to bring him with us and he'll go to prison, probably for the rest of his life because of what he's done." Jisung neared the couple as he stretched an arm out to grab Hyunjin. But before he could do it, Changbin swatted his partner's hand away, engulfing the crying boy closer to himself protectively.
"Jisung, you are the closest person to me from everyone in the agency. That's why I'm going to ask you for a favor..." Changbin said.
-
"You're certain that Changbin has been killed?" The director questioned Jisung who was standing in his office.
"Yes. He had a fight with Phoenix and they both fell from the cliff into the water. It's all in the report I handed in." Jisung replied, looking sad.
"Alright. But we'll send a team to search for their bodies and retrieve them if possible. You're dismissed." The director sighed. He had lost one of his best agents.
Jisung exited the office, maintaining a cold expression. He was usually cheerful, but when he knew he'd never see Changbin again he felt sad.
-
"Binnie, are you sure it's okay? I mean, you abandoned your job and your life for me. You also made your partner lie about us being dead, when you could've just sent me to prison instead..." Hyunjin fiddled with his fingers nervously next to Changbin.
"Don't worry about it, Jisung understands. I'd never send you to prison and I'll never leave you alone ever again. You're all I need. I love you, Hyunjin." Changbin leaned closer to Hyunjin and kissed him. The kiss was slow, long and filled with love.
After they separated from the kiss, the shorter laced their fingers and led Hyunjin inside a small, but cozy looking house on the beach.
"I love you too, Binnie. I'm sorry it took me so long to say it." Hyunjin confessed, his cheeks turning pink as Changbin stared at him with a happy smile.
