Changbin was attending a formal event when it happened. Being a member of a rich family had its setbacks. A hooded figure was lurking among the guests, keeping an eye on the rich young master. This wouldn't be the first attempt at kidnapping or murdering him, so Changbin was quite used to having his life threatened all the time. It was Hyunjin, his bodyguard that followed him everywhere who noticed the immediate danger first. All it took was locking eyes with the young master and giving him a subtle nod that alerted Changbin of the current situation. The young master didn't seem like he was affected by the discovery that he had been targeted for the umpteenth time and he simply continued his conversation with a rich Japanese investor. Hyunjin must've had a plan because he left the young master's side and soon mingled with the crowd. But Changbin once again seemed ignorant. He was careless. Vulnerable. Exposed. He was an easy prey for the person who wanted to harm him. And then, just before he made his move, the hooded figure felt something sharp pointed at his back.
"Make one more step and I'll kill you." Hyunjin said emotionlessly. He had a knife pressed against the attacker, ready to pierce his flesh if he disobeyed. He led the figure out of the crowded area and into the garden. It was dark and they were alone. Nobody would even notice their absence nor what they were doing in the darkness.
"Who sent you?" Hyunjin asked. He had to know who was behind this. Then, when this guy was no longer useful... Hyunjin would get rid of him.
The hooded figure quickly turned around and made an attempt to snatch the knife, but Hyunjin was quicker. He stabbed the guy between the ribs. Hyunjin felt how his blade sank into the skin of the attacker, but his face was devoid of any emotion despite the fact that he was hurting someone, even if that someone happened to be an enemy. He had to be professional if he wanted to survive and protect the young master. The guy staggered and grimaced in pain. The knife must've pierced his lungs. He tried to pull out the knife in order to aim it at Hyunjin, but the bodyguard didn't let him as he tackled him to the ground and harshly pulled the blade out, hovering over the attacker.
"I said, who sent you?" Hyunjin spoke with a threatening tone. He made sure to keep the guy immobile so he wouldn't try anything funny again. But this dude had the audacity to chuckle, and in result, choked on his own blood in his mouth. It seemed like he was mocking Hyunjin.
"You'll kill me. But Seo Changbin will die with me!" The guy spat, blood flooding his mouth and making it difficult for him to speak. He must've felt the searing pain, but as a professional he didn't show how much it hurt save for the grimace on his face and the slight groaning. Something must've clicked in Hyunjin's mind because his eyes widened for a brief second before he brought down the knife, stabbing the guy's heart. The attacker's life left him, but the smirk on his dead face suggested that he knew more than he let on.
Hyunjin left the scene immediately, because he had the feeling that the young master was still in danger. He rushed back in, not bothering to hide the blood on his clothes as his eyes frantically searched the salon for Seo Changbin. The young master held a glass of wine and was about to take a sip, but Hyunjin rushed to his side at the speed of light and pushed the glass from the other's grasp. It fell and broke into millions of tiny pieces, the red wine staining the impeccable tiles and making a puddle that very much looked like blood. Surely that would be a bitch to clean because of the millions tiny shards of glass, scattered all around.
"Hwang! What the hell do you think you're doing? And why are your clothes dirty?" Changbin scolded, shooting a death glare at his bodyguard.
"I apologize, young master. But I have reasons to believe that someone might have attempted to poison you." Hyunjin bowed respectfully despite his disheveled appearance. He was certain that he would get punished for his actions. Instead, he felt his master's palm on his shoulder and the bodyguard lifted his gaze to look at Changbin.
