Jeongin made his way down the school hallway. He didn't look happy. He was frowning, eyes looking at the ground and avoiding people's stares. The bell rang and the hall emptied in seconds. Jeongin didn't seem to care. He slowly went to his locker to take his stuff for the next class, when a hand slammed on the locker right behind him. The boy jumped slightly, surprised from the sudden noise. He turned around, his eyes widening in horror at the sight of three kids his age. They weren't just any kids, they were Jeongin's bullies. The kid standing in the center was the tallest and it seemed like he was the leader. The one on his left was rather short and seemed to weigh more than it was healthy for kids his age. The third one had a really stupid face. It just showed his lack of intelligence. The kid didn't seem to have any thought process going on as he always followed the leader's orders.

"Hey, brace face. Looking good, hm? How about you give us one of your metallic smiles, huh?" The leader mocked. He wore a sinister smirk on his face, as if he derived pleasure from hurting Jeongin's feelings.

"Yeah, Jeongbrace. You better not smile, no one likes freaks with ugly metal teeth." The short boy added. He wore a similar smirk on his face. Obviously, their words had affected Jeongin because he hung his head even lower. He even tried to blink away the tears that were threatening to fall. He couldn't show weakness in front of these monsters, but their words still hurt him.

"What, you gonna cry now? You're ugly as it is, crying will only make you look even more hideous." The leader laughed, obviously enjoying his classmate's suffering.

"Yeah, hideous!" The dumb guy added. He always repeated the leader's insults like some broken record.

"Let's go, I can't bear to look at him any longer or I might actually have nightmares." The leader spat before he walked away, his stupid friends following behind.

Jeongin was left alone again. He had to put up with this every single day. Everyday, he got mocked because he wore braces. They called him ugly and hideous. It really helped to bring his mood down and actually begin to believe them. But it still hurt, every single word. He made his way to the rooftop, not in the mood to go to class anymore. He'd just skip. The rooftop was his safe place, a place where he could sit alone and think, undisturbed by others. It was a place where he could let out his bottled up emotions and cry.

As soon as he sat down, the tears began to roll down his cheeks and he couldn't stop his sobs. He couldn't stop replaying the words of the kids that bullied him. He knew he shouldn't care, but it still affected him.

Jeongin didn't know how long he'd sat on the roof. He had stopped crying a while ago and he felt gross because his face was covered with dried up tears. He considered leaving his hideout to go and wash his face. His train of thought was interrupted by the creak of the door. A figure stepped out on the roof and Jeongin curled up on a ball, afraid that he'd been found out. He heard the person's footsteps nearing him and only when he'd stopped in front of Jeongin did the latter lift his head to see who it is.

"Innie, what are you doing here... Alone?" Felix, an upperclassmen and his best friend, asked. He noticed Jeongin's puffy face because he sat down in front of the younger, running his small hand over his cheeks.

"Have you been crying? Did they bully you again?" Felix asked. He was concerned. Jeongin simply nodded and threw himself in Felix's arms. He began to tear up again, but willed himself to stop because he didn't want to burden his best friend.

"Don't listen to them. You're beautiful, Jeongin. I like your braces, they make you look cute." Felix confessed with a smile. He really meant it. Jeongin relaxed in the hug.

"Really? You're not saying that just because we're friends?" Jeongin questioned. He still had doubts. The bullies' words had really affected him.

"Of course not. I said it because... I... Like you, Innie. I want to be your boyfriend. I want to treasure you and treat you the way you deserve. I want to make you smile. You're worth more than you think." Felix confessed. Of course, he'd been nervous to confess like that, but his worries disappeared the moment he felt Jeongin's grip on him tighten.

"I like you too..." The younger whispered. He made sure to hide his face in Felix's neck because he was too embarrassed. They stayed like that for a while longer before Felix sent Jeongin home.

The next morning Felix picked up his new boyfriend from his house. Both of them looked so happy. They held hands all the way to school and they didn't separate even when they entered the building, not even when other students could see them.

When they passed by Jeongin's bullies, the kid's eyes were as wide as saucers.

"I'm asking you nicely to stop bullying Jeongin. He's mine now, so you better behave or else..." Felix said to them while grinning. To a passer-by it would seem like a friendly smile, but Jeongin's bullies were actually scared to death because they thought that they might get beaten up.

Once the couple was far enough from the bullies, Felix stopped and looked into Jeongin's eyes.

"You have the prettiest smile. Don't forget that."

This one was kind of short. I had this idea for a while and it's kind of late since Jeongin doesn't wear braces any longer. My point is, you shouldn't feel insecure about yourselves because maybe the thing you dislike is something that someone else finds special. You are all special, don't ever forget that.
