No one knew where it came from or what it was, nor did they know how to stop it. It had just been a fairly normal day in Detroit, the weather had been reported to be clear and sunny, so how a mist had settled over the city no one knew.

Conan and Gavin had arrived to work as usual, with a lot of Gavin's protests going purposely unheard from the tall android.

Gavin demanded his usual coffee, which Conan went to get, as he sat down in his chair. He glanced over to the window and noticed the light fog beginning to form. He didn't care much for it though, it wasn't something he hadn't seen before. Conan returned with his coffee, placing it down on his desk before sitting at the desk opposite Reed.

"I believe we should get started now, Detective. We've wasted enough time already," Conan said in a slightly bitter voice, turning on the terminal and pulling up some case files. Gavin rolled his eyes and turned on his own terminal, resting his head on his hand. He'd barely been there for five minutes and he already wanted to go to sleep.

Gavin would normally have this sort of attitude in the mornings. It was no surprise that he seemed tired and grumpy. But besides doing something like pouring Gavin's coffee all over his lap to wake him up more, or mimic the sounds of an alarm clock to make Gavin annoyed or upset, there was not much Conan could do about Reed's behavior. The detective was just being himself.

The two sat in complete silence while working. Of course besides the sounds of Gavin yawning, and the small clicking noises from Gavin and Conan typing away, and looking at cases.

Apparently, most of the older phones and devices were down. There was no reason why, actually. Nobody was aware that the mist was the reason some of the older technology stopped working. It was such a relief androids were working. Nobody really seemed to care about it either. The older devices probably were just breaking, and that proved to everyone that they needed to be replaced.

But the whole 'androids aren't shutting down' might only have been possible due to the futuristic design of most things here, and the fact they were specifically made to function in even the most terrible situations. It was also a relief the terminals were working.

Possibly not a relief to the tired human, but definitely one for the hard-working Android.

Gavin eventually gave up with what he was writing, honestly not giving a shit anymore. He laid his head in his arms on the desk, his head turned towards the window. The mist was so thick now that he could barely see the buildings in the distance. He wondered when it would go away.

He yawned once again before getting up and going to get another coffee from the break room. Conan wasn't pleased with Gavin's slacking, almost tempted to slap him to get him back to work, he'd seen how a shocking impact could wake a person's mind up. Gavin soon returned with his coffee and drunk some of it, going back to his typing. A couple of officers talked quietly to each other before grabbing their things and heading towards the door of the precinct, Gavin assumed they'd been called to help with a case or something, nothing unusual there.

While Gavin quietly watched the few leave, finding it something to do other than boring work, he started to think about the sudden fog. It was a little weird how thick it had gotten in just a small amount of time. And along with that, how much area it covered.
