A Mother’s Dilemma…7/25/2016
I watched you walk away today, truly walk away
I watched my boy become a man and couldn’t make him stay
I listened to him breathe last night as I watched him sleeping
He never knew I was sitting there, didn’t know that I was weeping
I watched the seconds, minutes and hours rapidly fly on by
Proud I was, how could I not be, yet steadily I cried
I’ve known this day was coming, dreading it all along
Feeling guilty constantly for believing it was wrong.
My boy has grown into a man so how can I not be proud
My boy has chosen this path for him yet I’m still lost in the clouds
Wondering, worrying, negatively I’m thinking
Crying, dying, feeling like I’m sinking
Then I’ll blink just one more time and glow with so much joy
Because I know this amazing man was once my little boy
For now I will wait, to hold him in my arms and say I love you to the moon.
For now I’ll think this is sadly good bye, but I will tell you “I’ll see you soon.”
