Snake[Izaya X Reader]

Midnight walk

The forest. Upright trees, throwing shades over the ground, the sound of birds, rustling of leaves. Isolation.

For a while, you walk behind the Klauss, between the trees, deep into the woods until you come to a small cottage. There are Tamaki, Aito and Rei. With Klauss you walk to them.

Tamaki is holding a gun, in shooting position, he shoots once, twice, and goes on. He seems calm and cold, small smirk on his face reveals enjoyment. His every shot is extremely accurate. He stops and glances at the target, smile of arrogance widens over his face, he did it excellently.

"you're next" Rei hints you to get closer and a bit surprised you look at him. He's serious, not bothered to throw you directly into action. It seems he wants to get rid of you as soon as possible.

"sure" you put your things aside and walk to improvised shooting range. He gives you a handgun and quickly you check it, it's loaded and the way it should be.

You grab it, hand above and hand at side, finger gently on trigger, thumb above the thumb, now focus and relax. Between the heartbeat. One shot after another. At first, you struggle, unable to focus, making inaccurate shots. You can feel how your hand shakes.

"How does it feel to kill your own friend? A person which gave you so much to remember?"  

Quickly you blink, you can hear Izaya's voice, you can feel sickness which you felt when shooting Nick. Inbetween two heartbeats. You keep shooting.

"Azza focus" says Rei calmly but with gravity. It seems you have no time to relax, you keep shooting.

"You think your conscience will die with your friend, with Nick. But it won't.." you shot again, ignoring sounds in your head, ignoring strong pulse of heart, you're not holding sniper rifle, it's just a gun.

"Azza focus" again Rei warns you, noticing how scatty you are.

"You're a mere human. We can not deny our nature and the feeling of guilt. The feeling of right and wrong"  At once you stop and stare at the target, your body slightly shivering, cold sweat running down your back. Nick is dead. You killed him.  Nick is dead. You killed him. He's dead-..

"stop" Rei doesn't move even a bit, his expression doesn't change. 

"they overestimated your skills, you're the weakest link in this team" you hang the gun and look at him "you're that member because of which the whole team gets killed" he stares at you, his expression stern, his voice calm but sharp. Everyone listen in silence as Rei continues to admonish you.

"continue" he turns away.

Aito looks at you calculatingly, it seems he doubts in you even more now. In silence he continues to take care of his sniper as Tamaki lightly chokes on mocking chuckle, finding it amusing. He takes the gun and starts to practice again. 

In realization how badly you have done, you glance at the target. It feels the same as it did in the past, when Aoi agreed to let you in team. It was rough, it was hard and exhausting.

Maybe you should give up this time.

"that was harsh" Klauss walks to you.

"yes, I failed, badly" you look at him, small smile over his face.

"I saw how good you are, so what happened?"

"have you ever stiffen?" he nods.

"it was something similar to that" you sigh "maybe, I should give up"

"it happens, don't let that discourage you" he taps your back and encourages you then walks away. 

For a moment you close eyes.
