Over the next few days, the investigation unfolds. Aftermath of the execution, you focus your attention on unraveling the web of betrayal in depth. As said before, the first order of business is to conduct a thorough investigation into what the traitor revealed and to whom. Trust is a precious commodity, and you cannot afford any more leaks. You keep the situation in your closest circle, between people you trust completely since there's a high possibility that Jon wasn't working on his own or was the only one leaking the information. Your men work tirelessly, combing through data and interviewing carefully anyone who might have a lead. While Jean takes care of the legal part of the business and Troy focuses on business to work smoothly, you and Nick follow the investigation closely.

As usual, you spend most of your time working at the headquarters, in your office just like at the moment. You do the necessary work then eventually wrap it up. You lean back in your chair and take a deep breath. There's a knock on the door, Jean soon enters your office.

"[f/n]," says Jean in a calm, soothing voice. "Can we have a word?"

Your eyes move towards Jean. A gray suit suits him well, giving him an air of authority and elegance. You nod and gesture for him to take a seat.

"Of course, Jean. What is it?" you ask, leaning back in your chair.

Jean sits down and places a folder on your desk. "The man, who worked against us - the man we dealt with last week—turns out he had connections with the Awakusu-kai." Jean hands you a file, his expression calm but serious.

Your grip tightens around the file. The Awakusu-kai is not a group to be taken lightly. Their influence runs deep in Ikebukuro, and their reach extends far beyond what most people can comprehend. "What kind of connections?" you ask, your voice steady despite the unease gnawing at you.

Jean nods, understanding the gravity of the situation. "He was feeding them information about our operations. We're not sure how much they know yet, but it's enough to make me worry."

"We had an agreement with them," you say, looking up from the file and to Jean.

"Yes, we had a deal. Main points being that we trade with them and avoid disturbing each other's business," replies Jean.

"It's reasonable that they try to dig as much information on us as possible to protect themself but this breach changes everything. Our trust is shattered, and we can't afford to let this slide." You look at Jean. "How is with our informants in their organization?"

Jean remains calm, considering the question. "Our informants have been laying low since the breach. We've instructed them to stay under the radar to avoid suspicion. However, given the situation, we may need to activate them soon to gather more intel."

You nod, appreciating Jean's caution. "We need to tread carefully. One wrong move and we could lose our sources inside the Awakusu-kai. But we can't sit back and do nothing."

Jean crosses his arms, his expression serious. "Agreed. We need to know exactly what they know and how they plan to use it against us. That's the only way we can stay ahead."

"They must know by now that we caught the person, who forwarded them valuable information," you continue, "arrange a meeting with them and contact Orihara, he already supplied us with information last time, let him dig some dirt on them."

Jean's skepticism is evident. "Izaya Orihara - he is known for playing both sides. Are you sure we can trust him?" Jean clearly dislikes Orihara but he rather played smart and discussed it with you first than opposite right away. He was and always is elegant and polite in his behavior and speaking but sharp and direct.

"Trust might be too strong a word," you admit. "But we can certainly use his skills. Awakusu-kai must be using him as well, so let's make it seem that out main source is the informer while working under the radar to have an advantage. Right now, we need every advantage we can get. Let him know."
