The kiss lasts for a few seconds. Everything is fine, before Mitch rests his hand on Scott's arm.
Scott gasps and quickly pulls away, and sits up.
"Scotty?" Mitch asks nervously, sitting up as well. "I'm sorry. Did I do something wrong?"
Scott shakes his head quickly and then buries his face in his hands. He feels disappointed in himself, thinking he would be able to kiss Mitch back. He thought that if he kept telling himself Mitch isn't Damien, it would help. But, it didn't. He knows Mitch won't hurt him, but he just couldn't do it.
Mitch frowns as he watches Scott, before wrapping his arms around Scott and hugging him.
Mitch continues hugging Scott and comforting him until he finally calms down again. "Scott, talk to me. What just happened? We were doing fine until-"
"I-I'm sorry," Scott sobs. "I wanted to kiss you. You touched me and I... I thought of Damien."
Mitch can't help but feel a little hurt by that comment. "But, I would never hurt you like he did," he says.
"I know," Scott sniffs and wipes his tears away. "I know you wouldn't. I-It's been a long time since someone has touched me and not left a bruise on my body. You're not him, but he's still there. In the back of my mind. I still have nightmares over him. He'll always be there."
Mitch's heart breaks as he listens to his Alpha speak. He hates that Scott has to go through all of this, knowing he'll always be hurt because of what Damien did. Mitch desperately wishes that there is something more he could do more to help him. No matter what he did, Scott will always be hurting.
"I'm sorry," Mitch whispers, not knowing what else he should say. "I wish I could do something..."
Scott looks over at Mitch, taking a deep breath as he stares at him. "You're here now," he whispers. "That's more than I could ask for. You haven't given up on me. I know I'm broken. I just wanna get better."
Mitch can't help but allow tears to fall out of his eyes, listening to Scott. "Y-You're not broken Scotty," he cries before flinging his arms around Scott and hugging him tightly, ignoring Scott flinching at his touch.
Mitch holds onto Scott for a few minutes before pulling away. "I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have..."
"P-Please don't be sorry. Don't regret the kiss..."
"I'm so stupid sometimes," Mitch continues. "I don't think before I do things."
"Mitch, it's not your fault. It's mine. I wanted to kiss you. I'm just not ready to do more than that..."
Mitch looks up at Scott. "I would never make you do something you don't want to do," he says.
Scott slowly nods. "C-Can we cuddle?" He asks shyly.
Mitch smiles and nods, scooting closer to Scott. "Are you okay with this?" He wraps his arms around Scott and holds him, wanting to make sure Scott's okay with him being so close. He doesn't want Scott to have another panic attack. He wants Scott to be able to feel comfortable around him at all times.
"This is more than okay," Scott mumbles as he buries his face in Mitch's chest.
Mitch isn't use to being the big spoon, but he certainly doesn't mind this.
Luckily, Scott falls asleep and manages to sleep the rest of the night. Cuddling with Mitch helped a lot, and Mitch stayed with him the whole night too which Scott also appreciates.
"How did you boys sleep?" Connie asks in the morning, handing them both plates.
Scott and Mitch both glance at each other, and Scott blushes, instantly knowing what Mitch is thinking. "Um, it was fine," Scott replies. "Slept all night."
"That's good," Connie smiles as she looks over at Scott. "Any plans for today?"
"Um... we might hang out with Kirstie again," Mitch speaks up. "She'll probably come over though. Yesterday was a big day. It might be good to stay at home and relax for a little bit."
"Oh, home?" Connie asks. "Does this mean you're staying here again?"
"If-If that's okay with you and Mr. Hoying?" Mitch asks. "I-I would like to come back home."
Connie smiles. "Of course it would be okay. As long as you're with Scott, you're always welcome here,"
Mitch looks over at Scott and smiles, relieved to hear Connie speak those words.
"I told you," Scott says, smiling back at Mitch. "Mom and dad would never kick you out."
"Scott's correct, unless you would to do something incredibly unforgiving," Connie says, looking at Mitch.
Mitch smiles innocently. "Do you really think I would do something so terrible?"
Scott giggles at Mitch, before picking up his fork and starting to eat his breakfast.
A couple hours later, Kirste comes over and the three find themselves cuddled up on Mitch's bed with Mitch's laptop in front of them, watching random Netflix movies. Of course, mostly Disney.
It was mostly a relaxing day, but Scott needed it after the day he had yesterday. He likes spending time like this with Mitch and even Kirstie. Plus, it also helps with his memories.
