"Are you okay?" Mitch asks as he sits next to Scott, an arm around him to comfort him.
Scott takes a deep breath, wiping away his tears. "I-I'm just... I'm overwhelmed," he mumbles.
"I think you underestimated your feelings about going outside again. You've only been home for a day, and I'm sure it'll take time getting used to being around other people," Mitch tells him.
Scott sighs with frustration and buries his face in his hands.
Ultimately, Scott decides that he wouldn't be able to go outside just yet. He's not ready to face being around other people. He feels like a little kid again, but Mitch keeps assuring him that he has every right to feel the way he does. Thanks to Damien, he has trust issues.
About a half an hour later, Connie comes back to the car with Kevin and Kirstie.
"How's he feeling?" Connie asks, opening the car door.
"Pretty upset," Mitch tells her, glancing down at the sleeping boy in his lap. "He obviously hates that he feels this way. He wants to be able to go outside, but he's not ready to face other people."
Connie sighs softly, before nodding. "Scott needs time to adjust himself back into this life. After being locked away for six years with only contact from those abusive Alphas, of course he would be afraid of other people. I think he's pushing himself too much. He needs to give himself time," she says.
"But, he said himself that he doesn't want to be sad about it. He wants to go back to how it was before,"
"I know, but it's not that easy. Six years of abuse it a lot to overcome. He will need time," Connie says. "Now, let's get him back home. I'm sure he's exhausted."
"Did you get him anything?" Mitch asks as Kevin and Kirstie climb into the backseat.
"Of course. Kevin and I were in charge of the clothes and Connie got him a new phone," Kirstie says.
"Mitch, why don't you set up Scott's new phone so it can be ready for when he wakes up?" Connie suggests. "He'll be so amazed with this new phone. Technology has changed so much in six years!"
Mitch chuckles and takes the phone from Connie, and starts working on setting it up.
They finally make it back home. Scott passes out on the couch as soon as they get him inside, though Mitch isn't surprised. Kirstie and Kevin decide to go home, knowing Scott will probably be out for awhile.
Rick comes back home after dinner, and Connie tells him about the earlier events.
"Why would you take him out so soon?" Rick asks, frowning.
"Because, he needs new clothes-" Connie begins.
"But, you could have left him at home with Mitch. He's not ready to be out yet," Rick says.
"Obviously I know that now. But, Scott wanted to go out. He didn't know that it would overwhelm him," Connie says. "But, now we do know that and we have to take things slow whether he wants to or not."
Rick sighs and glances into the living room, seeing Scott stirring on the couch. "He should have someone with him at all times," he says. "At least someone to look over him until he gets better."
"And how are we supposed to do that?" Connie asks, frowning slightly.
"We could hire someone," Rick suggests. "A bodyguard?"
"A bodyguard?" Connie asks, her eyes widening. "That's a bit extreme, don't you think, Rick? I agree that he should have someone with him in case anything happens, but he doesn't need a bodyguard."
"And, who's going to protect him when we're not home? Mitch?" Rick scoffs.
"Mitch is perfectly capable of looking after himself and Scott," Connie quickly defends.
"Mitch is an Omega, Connie. We cannot rely on him to look after Scott," Rick argues.
"Well, I'm not trusting some random stranger to look after him either. He's already been through enough, and we don't need to throw in a bodyguard to make things worse for him. He already has trust issues!" Connie snaps, storming out of the kitchen angrily. She looks over and jumps slightly when she sees that Scott is awake. "Sweetheart, are you feeling better?" She walks over to him.
Scott stares at her. "I-I don't need a bodyguard," he mumbles.
Connie frowns, and she sits on the edge of the couch, gently grabbing his hands. "I know, sweetheart. There won't be any bodyguard. Your father is just trying to protect you," she tells him. "You missed dinner. I'll make you something to eat, okay?" She stands up and walks back into the kitchen.
A few minutes later, Mitch walks into the living room. "Alpha, you're up!" He smiles, and then frowns when Scott ignores him. "Alpha?" He walks around the couch, and then walks over to Scott. "Alpha!"
Scott jumps and blinks a few times as he looks up at Mitch. "Oh, you were talking to me..."
"Sorry. I shouldn't have called you Alpha," Mitch says, sitting down beside him. "When we were younger, we refused to call each other by our ranking. We wanted to treat each other as equals."
"Well, we're not equals," Scott nods. "I'm an Omega, and so are you."
Mitch frowns. He thought Scott was getting passed being made as an Alpha. It's only been a day, though. Mitch knows that it'll take longer time for him to get used to his true ranking.
"Okay-" Mitch takes a deep breath, deciding it'd be best to change the subject quickly. "Oh, Scotty! Connie bought you a new phone. I have your new phone-" He pulls out Scott's phone out of his pocket.
Scott blinks a few times as he looks down at the phone. "I-It's big?"
Mitch nods. "It's an iPhone 7 Plus, it's silver gold. I have the rose gold," he smiles and hands it to Scott. "Your passcode is your birthday. I thought that would be easy for you to remember. I already downloaded a few apps that I think you would like to mess around with. There's a couple games on there."
Scott punches in his passcode, and blinks a few times when he gets to home screen. The background is a picture of him and Mitch together at a beach. "I don't understand..." He looks over at Mitch.
Mitch giggles, and scoots closer to Scott. "Let me show you,"
Mitch shows Scott how to use his phone, until Connie comes back in with Scott's dinner.
"Oh, good. You're showing Scott his new phone. That's great!" Connie smiles and hates Scott his plate. "Our phone numbers are already in. So, if you ever are in trouble, you can call me or dad. Even Mitch."
"Thank you," Scott say. "You shouldn't have spent so much money on me. I'm not worth it."
"Sweetheart, you're my son. A mother is allowed to spoil her son," she says. "Oh! Good news, Scott. Lindsey and Lauren will be coming home tomorrow. They wanted to get here as soon as possible."
"Lindsey and Lauren," Scott mumbles to himself. "M-My sisters?" He looks up at Connie.
"Yes!" Connie exclaims excitedly. "They are your older sisters. They can't wait to see you again."
Mitch frowns. It seems that Scott is only remembering his family members, which admittedly hurts a little. He has no idea how he's going to be able to get Scott's memories back, but he's not going to give up.
After dinner, Mitch takes Scott up to his bedroom. When they get there, Scott finds a bunch of pictures scattered throughout the bedroom floor, and he's very confused.
"M-Mitch?" Scott asks, blinking a few times.
"Have a seat," Mitch says as he shuts the bedroom door. "We're going to get your memories back."
Scott frowns as he looks over at Mitch. "I-I don't know about this,"
"Well, I do," Mitch snaps, before taking a deep breath. He gently grabs Scott and sits him down on the floor. "I grabbed every single picture that I could find, and put them on the floor."
"Mitch, it's not going to be that easy-" Scott says, worried about disappointing Mitch.
"I know. But, it's a good place to start," Mitch smiles.
