I slept soundly dreaming of Drakor.

But my dream was interrupted by bangs on the door. "Drakor!"

"Drakor,"I groaned. "It's too early." He chuckled and smacked my bottom. I yelp.

He stood and slipped his trousers on and answered the door. "Josiah, what do you want?"

"The elders," he said. "Their here."

I sat up holding the blanket against me. "Here? Already? And my family?"

"They're with Nika," Josiah said. "I didn't allow the elders to get near them. But they are angry so hurry."

Drakor groaned and got dressed. "Kanna stay here." I frowned.

I was not about to stay here and leave my family. They are in danger with those old hags. After Drakor left, I went to the bath.

I stepped into the bath that always seems to be ready in the morning. I quickly washed up. I need to hurry.

I hurried up and went downstairs nor carrying if my hair wasn't brushed out. And I didn't have shoes on.

I got to the throne and found a woman and two men. Along with three knights. They were actual knights. Two of them were men.

"Kanna," Drakor looked at me. I ran over to him and hugged him. "I thought I told you to stay upstairs."

"Sorry," I said. "I was worried about my family that those old hags were going to hurt them."

"Excuse me?" I looked back at the woman. "Did she call us hags?"

"And I if did?" I glared. "You three are old. Shouldn't you three be taking naps?"

They growled. And I stuck my tongue out at the three. I will not be intimidated.

"Kanna," Drakor sighed.

"This demon has to go," the woman said. "We cannot have them here. They are a danger to all of us. Have you forgotten what happened? What they did?"

"You can't blame all of them," Drakor said. "Besides, Kanna is different, and she will be my wife."

"We forbid it," one of the men said. "Do you hear, you cannot marry a demon."

"You cannot tell me what to do," Drakor snarl. "I am the king, and I can marry who I pleased. You are only three elders who sleep and come down once a year. You don't have any rights."

"It was a mistake making you king," the woman said. "Your father should've had picked Berith he's more obedient."

"If you came here to insult me then leave," Drakor said. "I won't have you speak poorly of Kanna or anyone else."

"You are ungrateful," the woman said.

"Enough," the other man said. "I don't see anything wrong with him marrying a demon. Besides times are changing. And he is the King. He can choose anyone to be his wife. There is no law forbidding him from marrying a demon."

"Doryu who side are you on?" The woman asked.

"No ones," Doryu said. "So calm down, Druk, Draco."

"Fine," Druk crossed her arms and Draco glared.

Now that I look at them the three are young. Both men have dark hair and green eyes. The woman had long blonde hair and really, light green eyes. And they all had this light tan.

"Kanna," I look behind them. My mother walked past them, and I notice the knight with the dark armor stared at my mother. I frowned and blocked his view.

"I am fine," I said. "Do not worry these old people won't hurt you."

"Kanna, manners," she said. She turned to face them. "I am sorry for that. Kanna apologize."

"But,"I glared.

"No buts," she tugs my ear. I winced.

"Okay, okay," I rub my ear. "I'm sorry for telling the truth." My mother tugs on my hair. "Ow, okay I'm sorry."

"We accept your apology," Doryu said. "My name is Doryu."

"My name is Taisha," my mother smiled, and Doryu grabbed her hand and kissed it. I could see the lust in his eyes. Draco didn't have that look he had hate and Druk too. But the one knight he was staring at my mother. "These are Druk and Draco, my siblings."

"It's nice to meet you," my mother said.

"Mother," Dante walked over, and the knight woman stared. She better not get her hopes up. "Come on, we are supposed to go see Miss Rain."

"Oh right," my mother pulled her hand away from Doryu.

"I will accompany you," Doryu said.

I blocked him. "No, there is no need. Let's go, mother." I pushed her along. Dante led her out. I look back. "You keep away from my mother, you hear me. There is no way in hell that I will allow someone like you to have her. So back off."

I walked away and went upstairs to get my sandals. If those two men think they can get to, my mother, they are so, wrong.

I tied my sandals and walked out. I held my bag, and on the way down I bumped into that knight. He didn't have his helmet on. "Sorry." He said. "I'm Draken nice to meet you."

"Aha," I glared. "If you know what's good for you keep away from my mother." I walked past him. I look back he isn't bad-looking with that shoulder-length brown hair and chocolate eyes. Any woman would fall for him but never my mother.

I shrugged and walked out. I got in the carriage with my mother. "You didn't brush your hair out."

"I like it,"I said. "Makes it look curly."

"Okay," she smiled.

I scooted closer to her and rested my head on her shoulder. "Mom have you ever thought of remarrying?"

"No," she said. "All I need is you two. Besides who would want me. If a man knew what I did, they would feel disgusted. And I don't want to get rejected. So I'm okay with his things are now. Why the question?"

"Nothing," I smiled. "I was only curious that is all."

"Okay," she kissed my head.

I am glad my mother doesn't think about marriage. I don't want her to get hurt.

But that Doryu, he looked at my mother with lust. As if he only wants to bed her.

But that knight looked at her with tender eyes.

I sighed. Love is complicated.

I will have to keep them away from my mother. "Mother, stay away from that man, Doryu. All he wants to do is take you to bed."

"Kanna," she frowned. "Don't say such thing."

"Its the truth," I said. "I saw it in those green eyes. Mother, I know that look. I'm not stupid. I have seen men look at you that way. Even when you were with dad, they envy him. And after he died those man took advantage and began to offer you money in exchange for a night with you."

"Kanna," she looked down. "I did what I had to do to maintain you."

"There were other jobs," I said. "Why take the easy way out?"

"Easy money," she smiled. "And I would do it all over again."

I hugged her waist. "No mother you won't ever have to do it again. Do promise me you won't fall for that man's tricks?"

"I promise," she said.

I looked at her. "That knight, with the dark armor. He was looking at you too." I smiled. "But differently. Either way, stay away from them both always have Dante with you. You hear, Dante?"

"Yes, I heard everything," he said. "Those men won't get near out mother."

I smiled and rested my head on her lap. I will protect my mother. She won't ever suffer again.
