Edward communicated all the longing he felt for Mary Dale in that kiss.

His heart is beating wildly in his chest.

Apprehension filled his mind.

He half expected Mary Dale to either turn him away or slap him in the face.

So when Mary Dale's hands automatically flew to his nape and started playing with his hair, his eyes widened in surprise.

He looked at Mary Dale and sees that she is looking straight at him with hooded eyes.

She always had her eyes closed before when they kissed.

He tried to read what was in their depths.

But her naked chest inching closer to his naked chest is distracting him.

Her hands went down to his back.

Her hands felt warm against his skin.

She closed the distance between them and he could feel her breasts pressing to his chest.

Somewhere in the recess of his mind, he knows that this is not the Mary Dale that he knew before.

Something has changed.

With great difficulty, he pulled away from her lips.

He held her face and looked into her eyes.

She looked right back at him and asked, "Why did you stop?"

He doesn't know how to answer her question.

He ran his hand through his hair in frustration.

"Isn't this what you want?" she asks again in a business like tone.

He shook his head.

"I've never heard you complain before." she says while running a finger through his chest all the way to the waistband of his pajama bottoms.

Her action made him gulp a large amount of breath.

"Then how are we supposed to have a child if we don't have sex?" she asks nonchalantly.

"Sex?" Edward asks in confusion.

"Yes, sex! You know it's what people do to procreate. Why do you look so surprised? And here I thought you were eager to exercise your human rights as my husband!"

"Human rights?"

"Now you're starting to sound like a parrot imitating my words!"

"You're making our marriage sound like a business transaction!"

"Well, isn't it?" Dale challenged Edward.

"I married you because I love you Mary Dale! I love you! I never loved anyone else but you my love!" he says as he envelopes her in his arms and kisses her hair.

Dale wriggles out of his arms.

"Love?" she scoffs.

"You never loved me, Edward. Because if you did, then you wouldn't have broken my heart!"
