"Four years?!? But...."

"But you were in the States, so I just talked to your father. I told him everything and asked him to give me a chance to prove that I am then ready to fight for my love for you! Maybe because he went through the same struggle that he somehow understood me. I asked him not to tell you anything yet until I have proven myself to him and your stepmother and he agreed. I worked as a dishwasher in your restaurant where I met Chef Ome."

"Is that why he thought earlier that.…"

Edward nodded.

"Yes! They knew me as Ed the dishwasher and not Edward your ex boyfriend!"

Dale couldn't believe that Edward would do all that for her.

"After a year of proving myself, your parents agreed to our engagement. But I asked your father to make it seem like a business merger so you would agree. And then here we are now..."

Dale's head is reeling from everything that Edward told her.

It wasn't just her who suffered from their separation but he did too!

Edward held both of her cheeks and looked deep into her eyes.

"I'm so sorry Mary Dale, I really am! I know it's not enough but I hope you give me the chance to prove myself to you! But if you can't find it in your heart to forgive me, I have no choice but to respect your decision. Even if it breaks me, I will let you go!" and he placed a soft kiss on her forehead.

A tear fell down his cheek.

He wiped it with the back of his hand as he tried to look away from Dale.

But Dale touched his cheek and turned his face to her.

"Look at me, my heart...." she says softly.

Edward melted upon hearing her call him again "my heart".

She holds both of his cheeks.

"I want to give you a chance! I really do! But...."

Edward held his breath in anticipation of what she's going to say next.

His brows furrowed without him realising.

Dale smiled at that and traced his brow.

"But I want you to understand that it wouldn't be easy for me to believe you again!"

"I know! And I'm willing to wait until you believe me again and maybe love me again!"

"This.…" she points to her head.

"I know my mind believes you and has forgiven you already! It's just that this..." she then points to her chest.

"This broken heart still needs a lot of convincing!"

Edward looks sad but hopeful as she said those words.

She then held both of his hands in hers.

She takes a deep breath before she continues.

"I want you to understand why..."
