25 July 2004

“Good night, sweetie, I love you,” Emily kissed Jaden’s forehead.

“Good night, Mummy, I love you too,” Jaden said with a smile.

She got up from Jaden’s bed and left the room.

Jaden was beaming with excitement as it was his 5th birthday the next day. He had been waiting for his birthday to come because they would always go to somewhere special. Last year, the Blue family went to Disneyland and Jaden got to see his favourite Disney character – Mickey Mouse. It was amazing.

I wonder what Mummy and Daddy will give me? I hope they remembered to buy me the Lego set I’ve always wanted! He wondered as closed his eyes and began drifting to sleep.

“Happy Birthday Jadie! You are a big boy now, aren’t ya? I can’t believe you’re growing up so fast!” Mason exclaimed, tickling Jaden.

“Hahahahaha Daddy! Stop! I wanna get up!” Jaden squirmed, trying to get out of his dad’s hands.

“Mason, honey, let go of Jaden and let him brush his teeth,” Emily chided Mason for his childish behaviour. "Jay, can you please wash up?”

“Okay, Mummy!” He was glad that his dad had let go.

After brushing his teeth, we walked out of the bathroom when all of a sudden, “Surprise! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JADEN!”

His parents had bought him an enormous cake which had Mickey Mouse printed on it. He LOVED it.

“Thank you Mum and Dad! I love it so much!” Jaden was exhilarated, he was overjoyed that he has Mickey Mouse on his cake.

“Glad you like it, hun, now, what is a birthday without a present? Here you go!” Emily handed to Jaden a big gift box with a red ribbon on top.

“What is it?”

“Open it, son, you’ll like it,” Mason told him.

Without hesitation, Jaden took out the ribbon and opened the box.

Jaden eye’s widened in surprise.

“IT’S THE NEW LEGO SET! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YO-“

“That’s a lot of thank yous, sweetie, we’re glad you like it,” Emily interrupted him.

“You’re the best parents ever, I love you!” Jaden hugged Emily and Mason tightly.

“We love you too, Jaden,” His parents said in harmony.

26 July 2004

Jaden woke up.

Huh? It was only a dream?

Mason came barging in. “Happy Birthday Jadie! You are a big boy now, aren’t ya? I can’t believe you are growing up so fast!” He exclaimed, tickling Jaden at the same time.

“Hahahahaha Daddy! Stop! I wanna get up!” Jaden struggled, hoping his dad would stop.

Didn’t Daddy did that before in my dream?

“Mason, honey, let go of Jaden and let him brush his teeth,” Emily scolded Mason. “Jay, can you please wash up?”

“Okay, Mummy!” Hadn’t I said that before too? Why can’t I say something else?

What happened next was exactly how it was in his dream. Nothing was different. Everything was the same. It was like déjà vu. But of course, 5-year-old Jaden Blue was not that worried, especially after he had gotten his LEGO set. Just like his dream.
