Chapter Seven

In a blink of an eye, she picked up a syringe and threw it to the other nurse. The other nurse lost consciousness in less than a second.

Jaden’s eyes widened in shock.

Wow. She’s good.  I’ve never met a girl like her.

She removed the IV drip from his arm and she lifted him up from his bed. Then, she plopped him down onto the wheelchair next to her.

Is she superwoman? How is she so strong?!

 She wheeled Jaden out the door and through the hallway as fast as she can.

“She’s running away with the patient! Somebody get her!” Jaden recognized the voice – it was Dr Peyton.

He had seen her with Jaden and he started to chase after her. However, the girl seemed to have a lot of stamina and she ran so fast that Jaden felt like puking. She had lost Dr Peyton in a second and burst through the entrance of the hospital.

Jaden saw a black van in front of the entrance. The tinted window of the van rolled down and a boy shouted, “Hurry, get in the van!”

The girl replied, “Help me with him first, you idiot!”

The boy smiled sheepishly and got off the van. “Oh, right.”

They helped Jaden into the van and then the boy went to the driver’s seat while the girl stayed with Jaden.

And then the van sped off at a lightning speed.

The van slowed down after a few minutes. Jaden had no idea where he was going. All he knew was everything was a blur. First, he did not die. Second, Wayne apologised to him and was all weird and stuff. Third, Dr Peyton said that he was getting a surgery to keep his brain healthy forever. Madness. Fourth, a hot girl/nurse saved Jaden from whatever they were escaping from.  And last but not least, he were in a van with two teenagers whom he had never met in his life.

Boy, that escalated quickly.

The boy’s voice broke Jaden’s train of thoughts. “Hi Jaden! My name is David, I’m 16 and this is my partner, Katherine who is 15. I don’t know how to explain the situation to ya, so I’m shall let Katherine to explain.”

“You seemed like a 5 year-old-kid to me, Davey.”

“Hey! That’s offensive. I’m more like a 8-year-old kid, okay?”

Katherine rolled her eyes.  “Erm, hi Jaden. We’re from the Secret Agents Society. So, David and I are basically secret agents. We are here to save you from Dr Peyton. He has made a…” She drone on while Jaden got lost in her eyes.

“Hello? Earth to Jaden! Are you even listening to me?! Stop staring at my face!” Katherine was annoyed.

Jaden blushed while David chuckled.

“I can’t blame you, Jaden. She’s hot.” David commented, laughing even louder.

“Shut up, Dave. Nobody is talking to you.” Katherine hit him on his head.

“Ow! That hurts, Kate. Why must you be so violent?”

“Because I am. If you have a problem with me, I don’t mind hitting you a second time.”

“Okay! Okay! I surrender, Your Majesty.” David said, while muttering something under his breath.

“What was that?”

“Uhm… N-Nothing.”

“Good,” Katherine smirked.

She continued. “As I was saying, Dr Peyton had created the world’s first wishing machine. In order for it to work, he needs at least one Oneiroist. And he had found you at his hospital. He plans to use you to make people’s needs come true. It will be great for everyone but not for Oneiroists. They have to dream forever. Besides that, he had recently stopped production for your meds when you were still unconscious. He wanted to attract more Oneiroists to the hospital. However, when they found out, most of them rather die than be put in a machine and thus the world had 2 Oneiroists left. You and another person.” Tears were welling in her eyes. Jaden would love to wipe them off if he could move.

“Hey, why don’t you tell Jaden—” Katherine interrupted David before he could continue.

“Shush, Dave! Shut that big mouth of yours!”

“Oops, I don’t mean to. I’m sorry,” Dave said as he drove his van into a carpark.

Katherine kept quiet for a while. In the meantime, Jaden could feel his lips. He tried his best to speak. “Tell…m-me…wh-hat?”

David and Katherine both shouted at the time. “Nothing!”

There’s something they don’t want to tell me. Why?

Just then, David said in a sing-song voice, “We’re heeeerreeee!”

He parked the van in the lot. He got off the van and helped Jaden to the wheelchair.

“Bro, you’re too skinny. You should eat more and impress the ladies,” David winked at Jaden.

Jaden let out a small laugh.

“Let’s get going. The director should be in his office right now.” Katherine said, as he pushed Jaden towards the elevator.

What’s gonna happen next? Jaden thought as he rode the elevator.

It’s going to be interesting and certainly life changing. There’s no going back.

The elevator opened. Jaden was amazed. The entire floor was huge! There were many people training, using special gadgets such as holographic watches, smoke bombs and many more. Katherine turned to her right as she knocked on the door which says “Director Caleb Hale”.

“Come in,” The director instructed. He had a raspy voice.

David opened the door. “What’s up, Hale?”

“Please treat me with respect, Walker. How many times do I have to tell you? I am your sir, not your friend,” Caleb had a very serious tone to his voice. His face screamed strict and serious. He was definitely someone not to mess with.

“Sorry, sir, slip of the tongue. It will not happen again.”

“Good. Now sit.” David took a seat with Katherine.

Katherine spoke up. “Good afternoon, sir. We have saved Mr Jaden Blue from the hospital. Mission accomplished, sir. However, he had been paralysed by Dr Peyton and cannot move at the moment.”

“Excellent work, Agent McCall and Agent Walker. We can send Mr Blue for deparalysation later. I have another mission for you.”

“What is it, sir?” David asked.

“We all know that Dr Peyton had stopped production of the meds and removed all meds from the shelves. He knew that he was the only hospital with the meds. Fortunately, I have found a neuroscientist in who is still producing the meds. His name is Dr Aaron Collins. I want you two to bring Jaden there and bring back the medicines back. Be careful, Dr Peyton is still on the hunt for Mr Blue. You can collect your gadgets at the Gadget centre.”

“Yes, sir!” Kate and Dave responded.

“Oh, I’ve almost forgot, here are the last two bottles of medicine I can find for Mr Blue and Agent McCall. Good luck, agents.”

Agent McCall? Katherine? Why did he say the medicine is for her? Oh my god.

She is an Oneiroist.

“Kate, why didn’t you tell me you are an Oneiroist too?”

Kate hung her head and sighed. “I don’t want to remember that I am one too, okay? It brings back bad memories.”

“I’m sorry, Kate. I shouldn’t have asked.” Jaden was mortified.

“It’s okay, Jaden. Let’s just go.” She raised from her chair and walked right out the door.

“David, can you wheel me to catch up with Katherine?”

“Okay.” David get up and wheeled Jaden out.
