They talked about their lives throughout the ride. David was talking about how he took one of the bad guys in his previous mission.

“He was ten times bigger than me, man. I was afraid. But I told myself that this was another training and calmed myself down. Then, when he was not looking, I was like YOLO and pounced onto him and we fell to the floor.” David burst into laughter. “You should have seen his reaction, man. He was like “AHHH” HAHAHA! Anyway, His reflexes was slow, man. Before he could even get up, I punched him in the face and his cheek had a nasty bruise. He wanted to punch me back but I dodged it. I kick him in his stomach repeatedly and he grimaced in pain. To end it off, I used all my might and punched him in the face again. And he was knocked out in a second, by a fifteen year old boy.” David grinned in triumph.

“He knocked out that guy while I knocked out the rest,” Kate pointed out.

“Oh yeah? I looked good while fighting him, your hair was in all directions!” David touched his hair.

“My hair is fine, Dave,” Kate said while flipping her hair.

“Yup, your hair is gorgeous,” Jaden said truthfully.

“See? Jay agrees,”

“That’s because he is in love with you,” David told Kate.

“Stop it, David,”

No, I can’t stop, and I won’t stop…” David started to sing.

“Ah! My ears are hurting. It’s bleeding! Jaden, help me,” Kate cupped her ears and cringed.

“Haha, very funny, Kate,” David said, clearly irritated.

“Thanks for your compliment!”

“That is not a compliment!”

“I take it as one.”

"Fine!"

"Fine!"

"Good!"

"Good!"

They both continue to argue. Jaden giggled.

In the meantime, Jaden zoned out. He was glad to be with them. They were his first friends beside Wayne. But Wayne was too old for him.

As he thought of Wayne, he recalled that time in the hospital.

How could he leave me to Dr Peyton? After years of friendship and trust, he betrayed me! Why? I didn’t do anything to upset him, did I?

“Jaden! You like to daydream, aren’t you?” I called your names twice already!” David hollered.

“Sorry, Dave, it’s my habit,” Jaden said sheepishly.

“Don’t have to apologise. Anyway, I just wanted to say, we’re reached the airport. Now, we will meet Agent Vega who is going to be our dad and we are supposed to be going to the UK on vacation as a family. Now, change into these clothes later on and we will meet Agent Vega,” David said, throwing a bunch of clothes to Jaden.

“Let’s go!” Kate announced.

*****

They hopped off the van and entered the airport. Cold air rushed through them as the automatic doors opened.

People were walking everywhere, holding their luggage. Some were sending their friends off while some were catching their flights.

Jaden had never been in an airport before. Unsurprisingly, Isabella and Sam did not bring him overseas, even though they were rich. Jaden had to spend his summer all alone in his boring room. He didn’t even own a phone. He was like a boy from a century ago. He had no computer, no toys either. He only had a thin mattress on top of his bed frame and he would sleep all day, trying to forget that he was living in a cruel world. His room was dull and he was glad he would never return back there again.

Agent Vega was standing in line at counter 9 of the check-in. He had many luggage with him and he was wearing a flowery shirt with brown khaki pants. He had a tall and muscular body. He turned around and saw Jaden, Kate and Dave walking towards him.

“Hey kids!” He waved at them, with a big smile on his face.

“Hey Daddy!” Kate gave her most childish accent and hugged Agent Vega tightly.

Wow, her acting is good…

Dave gave Agent Vega a hug too while Jaden was standing over there shyly.

Kate nudged him and whispered, “Hey, try to act as though he’s your dad.”

But my dad is already dead…

Jaden thought negatively but nodded in agreement.

“Hi dad…” He looked up at Agent Vega and give a brief smile.

“Hey son,” Agent Vega hugged him regardless. Jaden was appalled at his friendliness.

Agent Vega finally let go and it was already their turn to check in. They approached to the lady at the counter and greeted her politely.

The lady giggled. “You all are such nice people, good day to you too! Er, may I have your passports please?”

“Ah, yes…one moment please,” Agent Vega replied and searched his bags and gave the lady 4 passports.

Jaden was so nervous that he was biting his lips.

What if the plan did not work? What if the doctors caught us?

Just then, the lady said, “Okay, you may check-in your luggage now and here are your tickets and your passports. Enjoy your flight!”

“Thanks!” Dave thanked her and winked.

The lady giggled once more.

Agent Vega’s face turned from friendly to serious in a second.

“Let’s go. We don’t have much time.”

Jaden was amazed at how great Agent Vega’s acting was just now that he was even fooled too.

They walked to the gates and proceeded smoothly. They were one happy family to the outsiders but on the inside, they barely knew each other.

Everything will be fine, everything will be fine…

Jaden kept repeating these words in his head. This was one of the most dangerous thing he had ever done in his life and if he screwed it up, his life would be over, literally. Well, he would be paralysed but you know what he meant.

Just then, he came back from his thoughts and looked up to see a familiar person walking in front of him.

He froze.

It’s Uncle Sam.

Shucks.
