chapter 38

Erika's POV:

I look up at Jake. I'm so in love with him but I really can't decide on what to do...

Erika: Jake, I love you... And Jax has just gotten to know and love you too. We love you, and I know I can't stay away from you.. But... I really just don't know if I wanna be with you yet.

Jake looked up at me with these adorable sad puppy dog eyes and my heart just broke looking at him. I stand him up place my right hand on his cheek and softly rub my thumb against his skin. He looks up at me then looks down at the promise ring he was holding, then back at me and slightly smiles.

Jake: I understand... At least move back in with me with Jax though.. Please.. I need my family.

I look at him and smile and nod at him.

Erika: Fine... We'll move back in.

As soon as I said that his eyes widened and so did his smile. He was so happy it was so freaking cute! I looked at him and then went to place the the bouquet of flowers that I was holding in my car and then came back to him, he was still smiling. He held the ring and then handed it to me. I oooked up at him a bit confused because I hadn't said I would accept it.

Erika: Why are you giving me the ring? I didn't say I'd accept it yet.....
Jake: Because it's yours.
Erika: No it's not, you bought it. Just keep it.
Jake: Yeah I bought it. But I bought it for you. We already went over this, it's yours. Nothing will ever change that. When I bought this ring I was thinking of you wearing it. Just because you didn't accept it doesn't mean I won't keep my promises to you. I love you, Erika and I'd do anything to make you happy. I know that sometimes it'll be tough to do so right now because we're not together, but at the end of each and every single day, I will be right there by your side even if you don't want me to be.

I looked at him and couldn't stop smiling. All the words he was saying was just going straight to my heart. I want to take him back... But I was real hurt by him, and I don't think it's enough right now. He then looked straight into my eyes and gave me a small smile. He handed me the ring and I gladly took it and put it on my middle finger of right hand. Saving the ring finger for the real thing... As he had once said before which made me smile more at the memory. I know even if we aren't together right now, fate will bring us back and I will get to marry this man one day. I just believe it. Jake went over to the candles and blew them all out. He came towards me and gave me his hand. I looked at him.

Erika: What?
Jake: We're gonna dance to our song.

It was silent for a moment. The only sound was the sound of our song blasting on the stereo of his car. We just gazed into each others eyes until Jake finally spoke up.

Jake: May I have this dance?

I looked at him and he had the softest smile. I couldn't resist so I finally took his hand.

Erika: Just as friends though... Right?
Jake: No.
Erika: What? (says in confusion)
Jake: More like best friends.

I smiled at him. He scared me there for a moment, I didn't know what to think.

Jake: Just like homecoming.

I smiled, remembering the old memory as we danced.

Flashback:

Jake: Care to dance? (takes out his hand)
Erika: (smiles at Jake) It's a slow song though...
Jake: I'm sure Alissa won't mind. It's okay, it's just dancing.
Erika: (looks up at Jake and puts her phone in her purse and grabs Jake's hand and stands up)
Jake: (leads her to the dance floor and and picks a spot and places his right hand on her waist and holds her right hand with his left)
Erika: (places her left hand on his shoulder and looks at him and smiles as they dance)
Jake: Isn't it a beautiful song?
Erika: Very.

While we touched, while we danced, while we gazed right into each others eyes and face without knowing.. I just felt this sudden nervousness running through my body. Why was I nervous? I don't know. She looked beautiful, and her eyes were just as beautiful. I probably just smiled the whole time right at her. I slowly pull her closer to me, making sure it isn't noticeable. I smile inside more than ever. Wow, she's so beautiful.

Jake: This is our song.
Erika: Huh?
Jake: This will be our song. Forever and always from this day forward. It was the first song we ever danced to.
Erika: It's a romantic song though Jake.
Jake: Having a song with someone has no limits. Having a song is sharing a special moment with someone. Just like how I'm sharing a special moment with you right now. This. Is. Our. Song.
Erika: (smiles at Jake) Okay, Jake. This. Is. Our. Song.

End of flashback.

We danced to the beat of our song. I laid my head on his shoulder and he pulled me closer. For some reason, while we danced. I forgot about everything in the world that ever made me mad at him and in my heart, I knew I'm still in love with him and forgave him for everything. He held the back of my head and kissed the top. I lifted my head up and we just gazed into each other's eyes. He smiled at me. His smile, I love his smile. He removed a hand from my waist and took a strand of my hair and pulled it back behind my ear.

Jake: I'm so in love with you, Erika Michaelann Costell.

Jake spoke in a whisper, causing me to almost not hear his exact words. I'm so in love with you too, Jake Joseph Paul, I thought. I looked into his eyes and found myself leaning into his lips. It caught him by surprise but of course, he leaned in as well. We both stood there, kissing under the moonlight. I couldn't be happier.
