"Earth to JENNIE!" I stopped playing with my food and glared at taehyun.
"What? I don't know how many times I've called you with your preferred name.." he stressed the word preferred and rolled his eyes.
"Calling you by your real name seemed to work." He shrugged and ate a piece of meat.
"Anne is still part of my real name." I retorted and straightened on my seat as I continue to eat.
"But really, why do you have to change your legal name? Jennie Kim has a nice ring to it. Plus it matches your bithciness, unlike Anne Lee, sounds so feminine."
"What? I am feminine." I let go of my utensils, crossed my legs and gestured down to my body.
"I mean its like damsel-in-distress feminine. You are what we call femme fatal which is a huge difference, mind you."
"I'll take that as a compliment. Thank you very much."
"Did I just feed your ego?" I shrugged, flipping my hair in the process and reached for my punch and took a sip.
"Heol! Look at this girl." He looked at me up and down and I smirked at the disapproving look on his face.
"Ah meolla meolla meolla. I don't care anymore, I'll even call you King Kong for all I care." He said shaking his head and shoved the last of his food down his throat. And that, people, is how you divert Nam Taehyun's attention and let go of the topic. I smiled in victory as I sipped happily.
"Anyway lets talk about our next client! BTS! What the-f" I coughed and quickly grabbed a tissue to wipe my mouth. Despite having a free shower from me, taehyun immediately stood up and patted my back and asked for water.
"Geez, your class just dropped to negative 10. Tsk tsk." I laughed at his remark and took a tissue to wipe his polo shirt.
"Sorry sorry, it was too sweet and I accidentally inhaled at the wrong time." He stopped my hands from wiping his shirt and plopped down next to me, crossed his legs and arms.
"What? I said I'm sorry." I asked since he's been looking at me like he's trying to figure something out.
"I think I'm missing something here." He brought his right hand to his jaw and tapped a finger on his chin.
"Psh. What are you talking about?" I feigned ignorance but in my head I've called out to all the saints that I know to take me away from his prying questions.
He uncross his legs and pulled his chair closer to mine and grabbed both sides of the armchair, trapping me in between. I could feel my sweat rolling from my head down to my sideburns.
"What are you hiding from me? Spill it." He demanded as he leaned closer, eyes squinting. I was about to make some lame-ass excuse when my phone rang. Thankfully.
I quickly grabbed my phone and answered the call without looking who was calling knowing it was mom. I stood up, freeing myself away from his body trap and gestured "one-second-i-got-a-call" look. And went to the ladies room.
I released a huge sigh I didn't know I was holding.
"What's the matter? Anything wrong dear?"
"No! I was just relieved to hear from you." Not a total lie.
"Well that's good. It means that you miss so much you'd go out to dinner with me tonight."
"Dinner? What's the occasion?"
"Really? A mother can't have dinner with her daughter anytime now?" I face-palmed
"Don't go reading over the lines. That was a genuine question."
"Uh-uh. No can do. You know very well what mothers do talking to their children. We always read over the lines." I bit my lip and nodded.
"Hello?" Oops. I just nodded forgetting she can't see me.
"Yeah. Here. Sorry 'bout that. Uhm.. What I meant was... we don't usually go out for dinner. So I was wondering what the special occasion is." It's not anyone's birthday in the family, not my parents wedding anniversary either.
"Well my childhood best friend just migrated back here from the Philippines so I invited them to dinner."
"Oh. Aunt Bom?"
"Oh yes. I forgot you're also childhood friends with her niece right?"
"Yes. Jisoo! I haven't seen her in a long time although she's been staying here in Seoul." A smile immediately formed my lips thinking about my old friend. There was never a dull moment with her.
"She'll be coming with us along with bom's daughters hayi and chaeyoung." I almost squealed in delight.
"Great! But what abou-"
"Your father will take care of them. No worries."
"Okay."
"See you later then. Will text you the address."
"Alright. Love you."
"Love you too honey." The call ended and I think that was enough time for namtae to let go of the subject matter.
....or not. Cause as soon as I went back he started asking me so many questions like "why the change of name?, what happened?, who's the reason? Are loan sharks after you? Did you have a leaked scandal somewhere?" And I just wanted to punch him with his last question. Good thing before I can have any violent reaction, his phone rang and it turns out to be Mrs. Kwon wanting us back at the office asap for a team meeting. Finally. Freedom.
Okayyyy. I take that back. Its official. I hate this day.
"Alright everyone! Lets get to know our next client for better output! WE'LL GET TO KNOW BTS AND THEIR INDIVIDUAL PROFILES!" Was the greeting I heard when we stepped in to the office with BTS music videos playing in the background and Mrs. Kwon said it ever so brightly too.
My whole body gave away with what I was feeling. My shoulders slacked and I looked up feeling my tears of frustration wanting to roll out of my eyes looking so dejected as I have felt.
"Is there anything wrong Anne?" I instantly straightened myself and did a lame head and shoulder exercise.
"Nothing. My body just felt stiff." I faked a smile
"Ok. Any questions before we proceed? Violent reactions?"
"YES! WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE THEM?! WHY HIM?! WHY DO I HAVE TO DO IT? AM I THE ONLY PHOTOGRAPHER AND EDITOR AROUND? NO! SO DON'T ME!" I thrashed everything at the rectangular table, through some of the files at the projector in front making ma'am Dara duck down.
But of course. Those were all just in my head and the meeting started peacefully. Taehyun sat across from me and made a v sign with his fingers pointing to me, his eyes and me again. Giving me the "I-am-watching-you" look. I wanted to poke his eyes out.
"Alright anne!" I looked at dara. Yes. Dara. Im not her friend right now. And yes that's how I rebel with my boss.
"Hmm?" I smiled letting them think I was listening to everything even though I have tuned everything out.
"What do you think would be the best concept for min yoongi?" Well shit. How about death. Yep. Best concept for him. But of course I didn't say that. I gave a brief preview of what I think would best suit him cause I'm a professional.
Yes. That's right. I'm a professional.
Professional...
Oh give me a break!
