I walked into Leigh's house and it was silent.
"Leigh?" I yell.
"Conner. He didn't die." I hear as I walk up the steps.
"Who didn't die?" I asked confused.
"Hello son." I heard a voice from behind me.
"Dad?" I thought I was for sure I was dreaming.
"Conner. I am sorry for leaving." He tells me.
I turned around to face him.
He looks just like me.
"I thought you died. I watched you die. How are you here?" I asked.
"Who you watched died wasn't me. It was your uncle. He looked just like me. I made it seem like I died, but it was your uncle."
I couldn't believe him. This wasn't real.
But maybe I wanted it to be real. I wanted my dad back.
"Why?" I asked, heartbroken but relieved.
"I didn't want to watch you grow up, I didn't want you to grow up. But I'm here now. And I'm going to stay until the day I die."
"Dad, is it really you?" It seemed like a dream to me.
"Yes son." He reached out and hugged me.
