chapter sixteen

Maddie
I walked into Defense Against the Dark Arts to find the classroom empty.
I walked to the back of the classroom and sat in the farthest seat I could find. I sat for a few minutes before Pansy walked in and plopped herself down beside me.
"Omg you will not believe what Blaise just did!!" She exclaimed, turning to face me.
"Draco just gave me something and I have to tell you but you can go first." I replied.
"Ok ok..... He gave me a promise ring!! It was so sweet and it's so pretty and-"
"Wait!" I interrupted. "Draco gave me one too!" I said.
"Wait really?" She laughed.
We then proceeded to show each other our rings until Harry walked in.
He looked over at us and saw my ring, he then immediately turned away and sat farthest from us at the front.
"Somebody's jelly" Pansy waggled her eyebrows beside me.
"Shush" I giggled. But I still gave a look over at Harry, wondering why he seemed so upset when he was the one who broke up with me.
I was about to forget about it when Ron walked in. It was clear that Harry was taking about me to Ron when Ron looked over at me with his eyebrows furrowed. He soon walked over to where Pansy and I sat.
"So... Engaged to Malfoy eh?" He said blatantly, sitting down next to me.
"Uhm... No." I replied.
"Really?" He pressed, gazing down at my hand.
I quickly removed my hand from the desk and gave him a hard stare.
"Yes. Really. Though if I was I'm pretty sure it's none of your business." I retorted.
He rolled his eyes. "You could be treated better you know" He sighed.
"What?" I said, surprised at how rude he was being.
"You heard me." He said.
"Are you talking about Harry? Because if you are-" I started.
"No." He replied, getting up and walking back to Harry.
"What the hell?" I said under my breath, shaking my head and turning back to Pansy.
"Ewwww" Pansy squealed, "Weasel likes you!" She said, wrinkling her nose.
I shook my head. "Even if he does it doesn't matter. I'm with Draco." I stated, glancing down at my ring.
Just then, Blaise walked in, and sat next to Pansy.
"Sorry I'm late." He smirked, kissing Pansy.
I rolled my eyes and turned back to the front of the room, watching people file in slowly.
Blaise
I fiddled with my fingers as Pansy and I walked down the hallway.
"Pansy." I said suddenly, stopping in the middle of the corridor.
She slowed and turned to face me. "Yeah?" She asked slowly, tilting her head.
"I....uh..." I sighed. "Listen, you're the girl of my dreams. I love you so much and I hope you know that. I will never treat you like Draco did, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
"Um... Blaise what are you saying?" She asked slowly.
"This is a promise ring." I stated, pulling the ring out of my pocket. "Some day, when everything's better, I want to marry you." I let out a shaky breath, holding out the ring.
Mouth wide open, she lifted her left hand, and I slowly slid the ring on.
She brought her hand to her face, examining it.
"Oh my god." She whispered. "Oh my god!" She threw her arms around my neck, tears sliding down her cheeks. "I love you." She mumbled.
"I love you too." I responded, smiling.
We stayed there for at least five minutes.
"Shit." Pansy sighed, pulling away. "I have to go to class." She kissed me one last time, and walked down the hall towards Defense Against the Dark Arts.
"She does realize you have that class too right?" A voice from behind me laughs.
I turn around and see Draco.
"Hey!" I exclaim, "You scared the shit out of me mate."
He chuckled, standing up fully from where he was leaning against the wall. "So.....?" He waggled his eyebrows.
I rolled my eyes. "Oh come on it's been five seconds!" I shake my head.
"I'm ahead of you then, I gave it to her about...." he looked down at his empty wrist. "5 minutes ago."
Shaking my head I looked after the empty space where Pansy stood. "Everything's a competition with you."
"Of course. You love me though." He smirked.
"Mhm." I replied. "Ok, I have to go to class before I get detention. I'm assuming you're skipping again?" I gave Draco a pointed look.
"What!?" He said in mock offence. "Why on earth would you think-" He began, but stopped himself when he saw the look on my face. "Ok fine maybe. 'Gotta go mate!" He yelled out before running down the hall.
I rolled my eyes and walked after Pansy to our next class. I walked into the classroom, plopping myself down next to Pansy.
"Sorry I'm late." I smirked planting my lips onto hers. She pulled away, smiling.
"Blaise!" She chastised me, "We're in class! We can get detention."
"I already have detention for being late" I smirked, leaning in again.
She swatted my shoulder, "Yeah well I don't!" She exclaimed.
I sighed dramatically, leaning back in my chair and throwing a hand over my forehead. "Fine, I know when I'm not wanted." I sniffled.
She laughed, rolling her eyes, just as the teacher walked in.
I looked to the front of the class and caught the eyes of the Weasel, he glanced over at Maddie, and then turned around to face the front quickly. I looked over to Maddie to see her staring at her desk, eyebrows furrowed. I nudged Pansy and nodded towards Maddie, she shook her head and mouthed "I'll tell you later".
Oof ok so I literally haven't written in so long. I'm so so sorry I know I said that I would be updating a lot but I haven'tttt so whoops. Anyway enjoy this chapter and I'll try to write a bit more❤️❤️.
