Think of me when you're out
When you're out there
I'll beg you nice from my knees
And when the world treats you way too fairly
Well it's a shame I'm a dreamI could follow you to the beginning
Just to relive the start
Maybe then we'd remember to slow down
At all of our favorite partsChapter 18

After following Riven through a bunch of intersections, I had become tired of the search. Riki was still excited, ducking in her seat every now and then. Clay was frustrated. I could see from the way his knuckles were white from clutching the steering wheel so hard that he couldn't stand a second of this quest. Osi was slumbering. He had fallen asleep through all of the drama. His hand was resting on the window while his snores created condensation on the tinted glass.
"Oh he turned Barclay! He turned!" Riki shouted excitedly.
"I know, Riki. I know." Clay sighed before turning after Riven, staying a couple of cars behind him. Clay looked as if he was dreading this whole experience and I wondered why Riki decided to bring him along in the first place. My friend obviously has a hidden agenda here, but I won't question her... for now.
I smiled in relief when I saw Riven pulling into a neighborhood but then I groaned when I realized exactly which subdivision he was driving into. This was Caroline's subdivision and since they're next door neighbors, Riven must be going to his parent's house.
"Turn around." I tell Clay. I interrupted Riki who was egging him on and telling him how great a spy he is.
"What?" Clay surprisingly replied. He pulled off to the side and let Riven drive on towards the direction of his house.
"Yeah what?" Riki angrily asked. She turned her body so she could get a good look at me from the back seat.
Osi snored his response and I rolled my eyes. What a great team we make.
"Riven's going to his parent's house. There's no need to follow him any further." I explained.
Riki seemed like a bit doubtful but her shoulders slumped. Her body was no longer tense from my suggestion to stop the snooping. "Are you sure?"
I nodded, "His parents live right next door to Caroline and this is her neighborhood. We should just go, this was a colossal waste of time."
Riki frowned and turned back around in her seat. Clay annoyingly shook his head before putting the car in Drive and bringing us out of the neighborhood to take us home.
The entire ride back I was lost in my own mind. Why would Riven not tell me about his past? It seems like a key part of his life especially since Riven is still suffering the consequences of his actions. It would be right to ask him about the incident and get a clear idea of what really happened, but for some reason I can't bring myself to imagine the thought of even asking Riven such a thing.
The last thing I need is to be even more confused about my relationship.
I let out a breath of relief when we got home. I was happy to no longer be apart of an awkward road trip. Riki stomped out of the car, leaving a snoring Osi behind. I sighed knowing I would have to talk my friend out of her funk. Riki could be so childish sometimes, but I think we've adapted the trait from one another.
"Hey Osi, wake up man." Clay called out to Osi, immediately rousing him from his sleep.
The imprint of the window sill was on a sleepy Osi's face and I chuckled before getting out of the car myself.
