Chapter 25 Pt. 1
--Elspeth--
It was now Saturday and it was time for the wedding and after Clay and I had breakfast with one another, we started getting ready.
But my nerves were running rampant ever since Clay had explained the wedding in more detail. He told me about how his parents, Richard and Hollis, and of course Thatcher would be there. I wish I had found out whose wedding this was before agreeing to go with him yet as I slipped into my dress, I really had no reservations.
I was going to be there with him through his meeting with his parents and I was sure that Richard and Hollis were as well. There was nothing like family! Insert sarcasm here.
"You look wonderful, ma dear!" Riki exclaimed as I looked at myself through my full length mirror. I felt nervous as I looked at my curled hair and pearl earrings. The dress fit just as impeccably as it did the first time. My makeup was just as perfect as Riki gave me a nude lip and a golden eye to match my shoes.
"Clay's gonna wanna rip your clothes off you hot momma!" Riki cheered.
I stopped her as I held up the palm of my hand. "Riki please, let's not talk about anyone ripping clothes off of anyone alrighty?"
She rolled her eyes at me tiredly before nodding in agreement. "Oh Elspeth what am I going to do with you?" she sighed.
I shook my head at my best friend before the door to my bedroom opened and Osi appeared on the other side. "Oh you look nice Elspeth but I just wanted to tell you that Clay's here."
I nodded and then went to grab my gold purse before I followed him and Riki out the door. My bare feet led me through the dimmed hallway and towards the front door where my prince charming happened to be waiting for me.
The air fled out of my lungs as Clay stood by the door, looking just as dashing as could be. He wore a pair of black slacks and a black dress shirt with one too many buttons undone and his chestnut hair slicked back to show off his handsome face. Although he was still sporting some bruising and a busted lip the wounds didn't seem to take away from his dashing looks.
While I was struck with amazement, Clay seemed to be struck with the same emotion as he was stuck in his spot. I fell out of the trance and made a move to take my shoes from his hands. "Thank you." I told him as I took in the gold flats. They were just perfect.
Well, everything about him and this day was perfect.
"You look-"
"Alright we don't have time for romantics, let us go you crazy kids." Osi said as he started out the door. Clay scowled at his best friend before Riki followed after him. I giggled before trying to slip on the shoes Clay had given me.
"Let me." Clay offered as he kneeled to the ground. A grateful smile graced my lips as he slipped on my gold ballet flats. I smiled at the fit, perfect.
"Thank you." I told him once both of my feet were covered with a beautiful pair of ballet flats.
Clay came back to his full height, still surprising me with his stature. He offered me his arm and I gratefully took his arm and followed him out the door.
"Are you ready?" Clay asked me. He sounded just as worried and anxious as I did and I really wanted to ease his worries.
I nodded. "But we'll get through it together, right?"
