Girl tell me how you feel
What your fantasy, oh
I see us on a beach down in Mexico
You can put your feet up
Be my senorita
We ain't gotta rush
Just take it slow
You'll be in the high life
Soaking up the sunlight
Anything you want, it's yours
I'll have you living life like you should
You say you never had it so good
La la-la la-la la-laaa
You never had it so good
La la-la la-la la-laaa

Chapter 16

--Clay--

Elspeth's grandmother was a riot. The woman was just filled with crazy rants and outlandish statements. I couldn't even count the amount of times she came up with a new nickname for Elspeth. First she kept calling her a minx, then a bunny, then a giraffe which she wasn't too happy about. But it seemed that her grandparents and father had taken a liking to me which was extremely dreadful for Elspeth.

Just as we were about to leave, Elspeth's grandmother made one last statement that I was sure made Elspeth's eyes roll to the back of her head from embarrassment. "Giraffe, you shouldn't be shacking up with that idiot. What was his name again? Stream or Ocean... well whatever." Her eyes were glazed over in concentration as she tapped her chin with her IV-free arm.

"I like Dirt, he's charming, Bunny. And he has more of brain than that stupid Ocean and knows how to buy my potting mix, doesn't he Teddie?"

Her grandfather frowned. He happened to be sitting next to her on the hospital bed with their hands intertwined, you could just feel the love radiating from the two. "I thought that was my potting mix."

"It's all the same." Mr. Arden added before Elspeth sunk in her chair and tried to hide her face from the humiliation.

And what really had me crying eyes out from amusement was when the nurse came back in to check on Elspeth's grandmother. The old woman almost punched her eye out as she shouted, "Get away from me you demon!" And lamely slapped the empty air.

She had a lot of strength withheld in that body I was sure. But after that Elspeth couldn't stay any longer.

After a promise of coming to visit her grandmother soon after she was emitted from the hospital, we had fled. She had her fair share of Grandma Arden for the day. We were going to go back to the apartment complex but got a bit sidetrack on the way.

After remembering she hadn't seen Holly and Richard for a while, we turned around to head over to their house which wasn't too far away. That must have been what sparked the sudden interest in her cousin and my best friend.

And come to mention it, I hadn't talked to Richard in a while either. The last time I spoke to him, I was explaining how much I hated Riven and his stupid hold over Elspeth while I was flat-out drunk on my bedroom floor.

I'm sure he had a wonderful time chatting with me then.

We were currently driving up their street and Elspeth looked a little nervous as she chewed on her bottom lip. I tried not to think to much about how cute she looked whenever she that and focus on the fact that she was too into her head once again.
