Chapter 30
--Elspeth-
My eyes fluttered open at the feeling of someone wrapping their arms around my waist. Clay had been moving in his sleep again but I wasn't complaining. Thoughts of the other night made my cheeks flush. I officially wasn't "pure" anymore. My mother's raging voice echoed in my mind but I couldn't find it in myself to regret anything I had done.
Last night had to have been the best night of my life and who would've known that any of it would have happened with Clay? I grasped the covers that were covering my chest and brought them higher, they were close to slipping off. I'm sure Clay would love to wake up to that sight. I shook my head in shame before I looked around the tent, looking for something to do.
I smiled when I saw the cover of I Am Number Four. It seemed like he was never going to be done with it, yet our lives were too hectic at the moment to sit down for a good read. I made sure not to jostle Clay as I picked up the book. I was looking to see how many pages he had left yet clumsy me accidentally let the bookmark fall out.
My smile fell as I really looked at the supposed book marks. They definitely weren't book marks. They were plane tickets.
Confusion swept across my brain as well as my face. Where could he possibly be going and why was he hiding the tickets in his book? I grew even more surprised when I saw my name on one of the tickets. I dropped the ticket in horror. This definitely wasn't a round trip.
"California?" I whispered to myself.
Clay mumbled in his sleep and I hurried and stuffed the tickets back into his book and placed it right where I found it. I laid back onto the bed, my hand clutched to my chest with my back flat as a board. What was going on?
Was he planning on taking me to a vacation in California?
No. That doesn't feel right. He would have asked me about it before he just brought tickets... right? Or maybe it was just another surprise although I doubt he would throw this huge of a surprise at me when he already knows that I'm not a fan of surprises.
I frowned, something wasn't right.
"Hey, turn that frown upside down beautiful." Clay smiled as he loomed over me. He looked bright and awake and the worry was wiped right off my face.
"Oh, morning," I replied.
"Good morning Arden, how did you sleep?"
My cheeks turned red as I chewed on my lip nervously, "Good, what about you?"
"I had wonderful dreams about you." I shivered as his nose trailed down the side of my face.
"You're such a flirt." I giggled, pushing him away.
"Oh, you love it." Clay chuckled. I rolled my eyes at him although I couldn't deny that I was slightly entranced by that side of him.
"Unfortunately," I grumbled. The plane tickets were coming into my mind again yet I didn't want to bring down my mood.
When I looked over at Clay, he now had his boxers on and his glasses. His eyes looked a little red, probably from accidentally falling asleep with his contacts in. I laughed as he brought his own shirt up and over my head, his hands following the lines of my curves as he smoothed the shirt down my body. I shivered.
"Don't start anything you can't finish Binkybar." I knew my eyes were playful.
"Who says we can't finish?" Clay replied--his eyes sparkling with the same playfulness. Yet it wasn't all in good fun, it was for a different type of fun. I blushed from the look in his eyes yet anticipation worked its way through my veins as he came closer.
