Tom's POV

I basically spent the next days becoming the perfect housekeeper, cooking healthy meals three times a day, vacuuming, ironing...well, working my ass off to make Julia feel as comfortable as possible and treat her like the actual princess she was in my eyes. I may have gone a little too far at some point though. She pointed it out, saying she wasn't a two-year-old girl and didn't need for me to spoon-feed her. Okay I'll admit I went too far that day, but I think it's all because I was unconsciously trying to make it up to her. For all the things...you know... I could have done.

Thinking she would appreciate some privacy and also need some space at first, I offered Lia to have the bedroom for herself while I would sleep on the couch. She declined  almost as soon as I was finished speaking though, saying she was in great need for cuddly moments and that there was no way she would sleep anywhere else than in my arms. Actually, cuddling became our main activity. Whether in the afternoon when I forced her to take a nap, or in bed at night after I was done playing the guitar for her just like she kept requesting every day.

It'd already been 6 days since she got out of the hospital, and she was doing great. But sadly, our time together was coming to an end since today was my last day off. I was gonna take her to Judy's first thing in the morning tomorrow before going to the chapel.  One thing was sure, I was gonna visit her often. Well, as often as I could without Judy getting tired of me and kicking me out  of course.

Since today was the last day, I thought I would make it special. Like have a romantic dinner or something. I had all the things I needed to set the table. I had candles, I had flowers. The only thing missing was food. Last time I went to the supermarket was before Lia left the hospital, so it was only fair to say it had been a while. There were probably some bags of chips left in the closets but that definitely was it. Besides, that's not the kind of stuff you usually eat when you want a moment to be romantic.

"I'll have to go get some groceries baby. There's nothing left for me to cook for dinner."

"Alrighty. Can I come with you ?", Lia asked with big puppy dog eyes.

"Actually I would've said yes, except it's almost 5 pm and you still haven't taken your nap", I objected. I had already allowed her to do plenty of things today and now she really needed to rest.

"Tommy, come on", she pouted. As much as I wanted to say yes, it was for her own good.

"Sorry babydoll but you have to take it easy. Remember ?", I said, making my way to where she was sitting in the kitchen.

I cupped her face in both my hands, locking our eyes together.

"I just wanna make sure you'll be okay. I love you so much baby. Do you understand that ?", I explained, tucking a strand stray of her dark hair behind her ear. She nodded her head.

"Good", I smiled, "Now do me a favor and go take that nap. I won't be long", I kissed the top of her head.

"Whatever you say Officer Hanson", she playfully answered, before lovingly pecking my lips.

After helping her settling comfortably into the couch and covering her body with a warm blanket, I made my way outside.

2 hours later

"I'm sorry baby, it took longer than I expec-", I stopped mid-sentence when I realized Lia wasn't where I had left her anymore.

Actually, she was nowhere in sight.

Laying the paper bags I was holding on the kitchen table, I started walking around the apartment.

"Julia ?", I called as I searched for her.
