Julia's POV

I started stirring as the alarm clock went off, my eyelids blinking lazily until finally opening. After turning off the damn thing, I stretched out my arms and reached my hand over to feel if the bed was empty since Tom's arms weren't around me anymore. I was surprised to discover he was still there though, lying on his back and staring at the ceiling absent-mindedly. He seemed to be deep in thought, and I honestly don't even think he noticed I was awake. I sat up, covering my body with the sheets since unlike him, I was still fully naked. He must have gotten up at some point to put some clothes on.

After a good ten minutes of being totally unnoticed, I began worrying a little.

"Baby ?", I hesitanly spoke, trying to break the silence, and mostt of all, snap him out of whatever was bothering him.

"Tommy ?", I tried again when he didn't move.

Still getting no response, I started shaking my hand in front of his face.

"Uh?", he finally reacted, briefly shaking his head as if he had been daydreaming.

"Where were you ?", I chuckled, leaving a sloppy kiss on his lips before resting my head on his chest and snuggling close.

"Oh...I was just...thinking", he blankly said.

"Are you alright ?", I asked, concern evident in my voice. He was really strange and it got me seriously worried.

"Yeah' don't worry", he replied, wrapping an arm around my shoulder probably to reassure me. I could tell only by his expressionless face that he was lying, but as he apparently didn't want to talk about it, I just dropped the subject.

"I don't wanna get up", I pouted, still laying on top of him. When he didn't respond, I sat up once more.

"What's wrong Tom ?", I questioned in a serious tone.

"Nothing", he assured me, running a hand through my messy hair to prevent it from falling into my face. He intently gazed at me for a moment and I maintained eye contact with him, attempting to read his mind but to no avail of course.

"Baby I...", he started, but stopped in the middle of whatever he had to say. I was growing impatient , anyway I managed not to let it show.

"There's something I gotta ask you...Well, two things actually", he continued. For some reason, my stomach tied up in knots at his words.

"Okay...", I spoke, smiling slightly although my facial expression was a mix between bewildment, eagerness and fear. Tom remained silent for a while as if he was searching for the right words.

"Hurry because we're gonna be late for work otherwise", I playfully said as I checked the time, immediately regretting it as I realized he'd taken it a little too seriously when in fact I only meant to lighten the heavy atmosphere.

"Ya, we better get ready for work. I'll tell you some other time", he coldly countered before getting out of the bed and exiting the room, leaving me alone.

I rolled my eyes in disbelief. There was no need to be a pickly pear, I was just kidding. That guy could be such a pain in the ass sometimes.

Tom and I both arrived at the chapel frustrated. We went our separate ways and I decided to just forget it. I didn't stay there long anyway, just enough time to report and greet everyone. Before I even knew it, I was already jumping in my car and heading to school.

Despite all my efforts to focus on my job, I could barely think of anything else all day beside Tom and his strange behavior from this morning.  I couldn't help but wonder what it was he was willing to tell me. He seemed to be...someplace else. I mean, whatever was in his mind, it had to be important to justify such strangeness.
