Phoenix Fire (Book 2/6 of the Phoenix of Konoha series)

Emi vs Shikamaru

~3rd person~

"You ready?" Shikamaru asks his eyes showing that he was tired. He and Emi were standing a few feet from each other. "As ready as I'll ever be." Emi replies. "Alright. Shadow Possession Jutsu." He says. His shadow snakes towards her. She tries to get out of the way, sprinting, she was just about to get out of the way, then she froze. Tangled by the shadow, she couldn't move a muscle. Gritting her teeth she tried to break out of the position. Emi was barely able to even to speak, and could slightly switch her fingers. Her cerulean orbs, met with Shikamaru's brown as she was forced to turn around. She shakily managed to clasp her hands together, and started to build up chakra. I hope this works... Emi thinks. Long story short, it doesn't. 

~Emi's P.O.V~

Shikamaru is still controlling me effortlessly. It was really annoying. I kept doing my best at breaking the shadow useing my chakra, but it wasn't going to well. I start panting with the effort. Shikamaru once again retracts his shadow. "Had enough?" he asks. "You wish!" I snap. He uses his Shadow Possession Jutsu once again. This time, I manage to dodge the attack, and counter it with my own. "Phoenix Fire Jutsu!" I counter. Shikamaru dodges the attack.

"Huh..looks like you're getting faster, Emi." he praises. I shrug. "Thanks." "Once more!" Shikamaru calls out. "Shadow Possession Jutsu!" The shadow snakes towards me, catching me off-guard and catching me in its shadowy web. It takes me a minuet, but I'm able to break the shadow.

Shikamaru stands there, clearly impressed. I take this opportunity and run towards him, and hold a Kunai to his throat. "I win." I state simply.
