Phoenix Fire (Book 2/6 of the Phoenix of Konoha series)

Flashback

~3rd Person~

Gaara stood on one of the buildings that over looked Konoha. More specifically, the hospital. He had put his own sister in the hospital. He should feel....well he didn't really know how he should feel, but it wasn't that important.

He wondered for a brief moment if he could be able to visit Emi, then thought against it. The Uchiha was probably there with her, and he didn't want to deal with him. He supposed he could go in after hours, when he was gone, like he did since he put her there.

He had hoped that Emi's injuries weren't that horrible, but he was wrong. Thanks to him, her leg was crushed and she might never walk again. She also had a bad concussion as well.

He despised himself. He had let Sukaku have a little to much control, and Emi ended up broken. He had vowed to protect her ever since he saw what happened that day.

Gaara and Emi were walking along the streets of Sunagakure. Everyone was pointing, saying things like, 'there! That's them! The Kazekage's monsters!' and, 'oh look, the monsters!' one of the other kids run up to Emi. 'freak! Monster!' he chanted.

Emi hid behind Gaara, and cried. She didn't have any sort of backbone at the time. "Monsters Monsters!" the kids continued to chant. "Get out of here you peices of shit!" one of the adults yell.

They started to throw rocks at them. One of them hit Emi in the chest, and she doubled over in pain. Gaara used his sand and hurt them all. He ten used it to carry his sister back to their home. That was the day he vowed to protect Emi, and keep her from harm.

Gaara looked at the sky. It was almost sundown. He made his way towards the hospital just in time to see the Uchiha leave, their dog behind him. The nurse left as well, and Gaara then opened the window and went in. There he spent the whole night, watching over his beloved twin.
