~Emi's P.O.V~
I woke up to barking. "Quiet, Clay." I say, my voice hoarse from not using it for so long.
"Your awake." I hear. I turn my head to see Gaara standing by the bed. My instincts tell me to run, but I have no energy.
"G...Gaara." I say.
He looks at me sadly, and looks away again. "I am sorry.." he says. "I...am so so sorry.....I didn't know.....i....didn't......"
"I know...That wasn't you, Gaara. Don't beat yourself up......it wasn't you who almost killed me......." I try to sit up, but sand pushed me back down.
"No..." he says. "Not yet. Rest..."
I take one of his hands and hold it in my own. "I forgive you..." I say. "It wasn't you, Gaara. Remember that. It wasn't you." he looks down at me, and entwined our fingers.
Just then, someone comes walking through the door.
"Emi?" it was Sasuke. Gaara passes through the door, not looking at him. I turn my head, and look at him.
"Hey..." I say. He gives me a small smile.
"Your awake......I thought that you were going to die....."
"Naaaahhhhhhh," I reply, "Nothing can keep me down. I'm perfectly fine."
"Uhhh....yeah.....perfectly fine..." He suddenly looks uncertain.
"Sasuke?" I ask. "Sasuke what's wrong?"
He doesn't answer. Just looks away with a pained expression.
"Damnit Sasuke!" I say getting angry. "Tell me what the Hell is wrong!"
He looks back at me. "Emi....you won't be able to walk for the rest of your life...not without support."
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"G....Gaara crushed.....your leg...." Sasuke says. He had a pained expression and he looked upset. "Y...you will never be a ninja....ever again.."
That struck like a Kunai hitting a tree. Very fast, and very deep. "W.....what?" I ask.
"B-but... my dreams...There... there... it's a mistake....No.... I... There must be something..... Have the-have the doctors really...g-given...... up?..... N-no..... there..... should... be.... M-my..... dream..... I-I can't-I can't be.... di-disabled...I...my.."
I break down, right there. Sasuke puts his arm around me as I sob uncontrollably.
