Chapter 24 "Saving Them":

(Time Skip: Two Days Later)
Clem's POV:
We've been on the road for the last few days following the map as we had now finally made to the base of the raiders that Marlon gave the twins away to. It looked heavily secured with barb wire fences, high walls, and two security guards guarding the main gate. From here, it looked almost impossible for us to get in easily. Violet and I stood at the hill observing the base as Gabe, Thomas, and Louis took care of some walkers we came across. "You know, it's kind of weird." I heard Violet say as I turned my head at her to acknowledge her. "What is?" I asked her. "That it's been over a year and I thought that my friend and my girlfriend were dead. And now I get to see them again." She told me as I knew exactly how she felt. I had to do the same thing with Gabe before we saw each other again. "Yeah welcome to the club, sister. I had to wait four years to see Gabe and I thought he was dead as well." I told her as that caused her to grin but then immediately frown again. "But what if... what if they are really dead?" Violet said. I put my hand on her shoulder and said, "They are alive. I have faith." She then smiled again as the boys finished killing all of the walkers and coming up to us.
"Well shit. This isn't gonna be easy." Gabe said reaching for my hand as I accepted it. "Oh I don't know about that. Chairles and I can accomplish anything. Isn't that right, Chairles?" Louis asked his weapon as he put it to his ear to make it look like it was whispering to him. "Chairles says yes." Louis then commented as Violet facepalmed. "Hey Louis, why don't you do all of us a favor and fucking grown up and act your age. This is serious." Violet then snapped at him. "So how exactly do we get in?" Thomas asked us. We began thinking together as Gabe noticed something and said, "There's a small gap in the wall by the front gate. It looks like it's big enough to fit a person. Makes me wonder why they haven't covered it up yet. Regardless, that's our way in." "Yeah we'll just go through that hole right next to those guards with big and loaded weapons. How the hell do you expect us to do that without getting caught and being shot to death?" Violet asked sarcastically. "Well obviously we'll need a distraction. Someone to keep the guards busy while the rest of us sneak in." I added on. "I vote Louis." Violet immediately said as Thomas replied, "Yeah I vote Louis too." "Uh guys? I would like to make an alternate suggestion." Louis said sounding slightly nervous. "Oh come on Lou. You're loud, dramatic and annoying. Your basically like a walking distraction." Violet then told him. "I think you mean charming and theatrical. Entertaining is another word that comes to mind. Charismatic." Louis joked. As Violet then replied, "Ugh! See what I mean." "Come on, Louis. We need your help on this. Please." I asked him and said, "Yes ma'am. I can't say no to a face like that." Gabe then gave him a quick dirty look for his flirty remark as Louis jut looked nervous. "Ok Louis. Go get their attention before they find us all and we end up dead." Thomas told him as Louis nodded and began to walk towards the guards." "Oh and if I die, walker Louis is coming back and eating you all first." He said as he then walked up to the two guards as the rest of us got in position.
We looked over to see Louis distracting the guards by just using his wide crack humor to make them laugh as we snuck through the hole one at a time. When we got inside all four of us were able to hide behind a stack of boxes that were full of food and supplies. Gabe and I looked up to see that there weren't as many people on there as we thought . There were about twenty to twenty five people stacking more supply boxes. "Do you see where maybe they could be held?" Violet then asked while whispering. I looked around as I saw a medical building, a gym area, quite a few houses, a storage unit, and a complex building. "Do you think they would put them to use in the medical center?" I asked her as Violet just shook her head. "Yeah they both tried to be medics back at the school. But unfortunately they sucked ass at it so I don't think that's where they have them." Thomas added. "Well what about the complex or the storage unit? Those are the only two other options they could be in." Gabe asked as Violet thought for a moment. "Yeah they must be. Thomas and I will go sneak into the storage unit while you go with Clem to the complex." Violet told Gabe as he nodded at her. Violet and Thomas then went one way to the storage unit and Gabe and I went the other way to the complex as luckily none of us were seen.
Gabe had to pick the lock, but we eventually made our way into the complex building as it was just the two of us. Luckily there wasn't a garden side so getting in wasn't that hard past the lock. From the inside, it looked like an abandoned slaughter house as it began to give me the creeps but I didn't wanted to show that I was creeped out. "So I saw that you got upset when Louis flirted with me earlier." I said to Gabe has he rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah sorry about that. It's just that I don't like when people flirt with my girlfriend is all." Gabe apologized as I held both of his hands in mine. " Gabe, don't worry about it. He was just playfully flirting. It isn't serious. And I can promise you he won't take me away from you. Nobody can. You are my soulmate, my one and only, and the love of my life. Your my dork and I'll love you forever." I said as my word made Gabe smile widely and blush. "God I fucking lov...." Gabe was about to respond until we heard rattling come from further ahead. We looked at each other nervously as we continued moving ahead towards the noise. We got close to it as it appeared to be behind a steel door. "Think the twins are in there?" I asked Gabe. "Well, only one way to find out." He responded as he tried to open the door but it wouldn't. "Dammit. It's locked. And I broke the needles I used on the last lock." Gabe said frustrated. "Hold on. Let's look around and see if there is anything we can use to break the lock." I said as Gabe nodded and we then searched the dark area.
We looked around for a bit and it was difficult considering we were in the dark. As I was going to search somewhere else, I bumped into something as I turned around to see bolt cutters leaning on the wall. "Gabe, what about these?" I whispered to him while holding it up. "Yes! That's perfect." He said as I handed them to him, he kissed my cheek, and we went back to the door. Gabe then put the bolt cutters to the chain on the lock as he then snapped off the chain. "Fuck Yeah!" Gabe excitingly whispered as I chuckled at his goofiness. Gabe then went to open the door as I stopped him for just a moment. "Just... be careful Gabe. Who knows what's in there. Maybe it's a bunch of walkers." I cautioned him. "They are in here. I know it. Like you said to Violet, I have faith." He said as I smiled a bit before he opened he door. It opened as the room looked nastily empty and kind of shitty looking as Gabe and I entered it. As we entered, we saw two girls about our age chained up around their necks, wrists, and ankles. "That must be them." I whispered to Gabe as we moved a little closer to them. The door slightly slammed again the opposite wall.l which caused one of the girls to scream out in panic, "PLEASE!! NO MORE!! NO MORE!!" Gabe quickly moved to them as they turned around to notice us. "Sofie! Minerva! It's ok, it's just us. We're so glad you're ok." Gabe said hugging he two as they were hesitant at first but eventually hugged him back. "Gabe? What are you doing here? How did you get in?" One of the girls asked him as he replied, "We're here to rescue you. And we snuck in thanks to Louis's distraction." The other girl looked over Gabe's shoulders and looked directly at me. "Gabe, who is this girl with you?" She asked him. "Oh well girls, I would like to introduce you to my girlfriend, Clementine. Clem, this is Sofie and this is Minerva." Gabe said pointing to them individually so I knew who was who. "It's really nice to meet you too." I said to them. "So your girlfriend, huh? That's... that's good to hear. I'm happy for you two." Sofie said as Gabe began to unchain her and Minnie. "Yeah Gabe. It's about time you got yourself some pussy." Minerva told him as I felt embarrassed and I could tell he did too.
"Wait, is Violet here with you guys?" Minnie asked as the two were now unchained. "Yes, she's with Thomas searching for you guys as well." I told her as Minnie looked super happy. "Well come on. Let's not waste anymore time and get you girls out of here." Gabe said helping Sofie on her feet as the four of us then left the room and Minnie shut the door. As we began to quietly run out, we saw the door open as a man with glasses walked through. "No worry. I handle sex slaves." He said in his thick ass Russian accent. He then turned around to see us there as he looked as shocked as we were. His eyes then locked on me as his confusion turned to pure and unfiltered rage. "CLEMENTINE!!!" He shouted angrily as I then began to recognize who it was and I became angry as well. "ARVO!" I shouted back. He then reached for his walker talkie and spoke into it, "Intruders! Need Backup!" I then took out my gun and tried to shoot him as he ducked for cover before the bullet hit him. Gabe then backed me up as he rolled out his gun as well and fired at him. Arvo shot a few bullets back while shouting, "I kill you, stupid bitch! You kill Natasha!" "Oh come the fuck on, Arvo. She had turned and there was nothing else I could do." I yelled back.
A few guards then entered as well and started held their weapons at us while Arvo made his escape. They didn't look like the guards from outside though. They had black clothes, bullet proof vests, and black masks on. All of I sudden I looked back at Gabe as he had stopped firing and looked horrified. He whispered something to himself that I couldn't hear as the guards then fired their weapons at us. I pushed Gabe out of the way to safety and the four of us were now stuck hiding with no way out. "Gabe, what the hell happened?!" I asked him as he was still horrified. "Baby?" I asked again more concerned as we then heard additional gunshots until the gunfire just stopped. We all looked back to see that the guards were dead with Violet and Thomas in he doorway. "Oh thank god. I'm glad to see you guys here." I said hugging the two of them. "Well when we heard all the gunfire we knew something was up so we just came to help." Thomas said as I let go of them. "Vi?" I heard Minnie say as her and Violet looked at each other in a loving gaze. "Minnie!!!" Violet exclaimed running at Minerva as she ran at Violet as well. The two ran into each other's arms before letting go slightly and smashing their lips together lovingly. "I'm so sorry. I should have been there that day. I could... I could've...." Violet stuttered while crying tears of big joy and regret as Minnie picked up her chin and said, "It's ok, Vi. I'm just glad to have you back. I've dreamt of this moment for over a year. To be back in your arms and our lips touching once again. It's like a dream come true." They shared yet another quick kiss before Thomas said, "Hate to break up such an adorable reunion, but the whole community is in a frenzy and any second now, they will all come and kill us. So we need to get the fuck out now!!" We all nodded as we ran out of the complex for our lives.
Everyone started shooting at us as Thomas then got shot in the shoulder and yelled out, "FUCK!!" Sofie helped him up as the six of us then climbed through the hole together. I was last to go as I looked back for just a moment and saw a man standing at the balcony giving orders. He had pitch black hair, a leather jacket, a red scarf, and one glove. I then crawled through the hole as well and met up with everyone else on the other side. "Come on guys! Let's fucking go!" We heard Louis call out to us as we didn't hesitate to run toward him. "I had... a little trouble out here as you can see." He said holding up "Chairles" which was now covered in human blood. "Hey, we had more trouble in there." I told him. "Yeah obviously. Now les go before they come after us." He said as we all then ran far into the woods.
