The Doctor, Jack, and I were piloting the TARDIS frantically and the extrapolator was hooked into the console as a shield around the old girl.

"We've got incoming!" Jack shouts and I hurry over to the monitor.

My eyes widen a bit when I see two missiles heading toward us. I squeak when they hit and grab onto the console to keep from falling.

"The extrapolator's working!" Jack cheers. "We've got a fully functional force-field! Try saying that when you're drunk!" he calls, making me snort loudly.

"Think that's impressive, you ought to see my next trick," I smirk, flipping a lever.

The TARDIS materializes around Rose and unfortunately a Dalek: "Rose! Get down!" I squeak.

"Get down, Rose!" the Doctor calls when she hesitates and Rose dives down to the floor.

"Exterminate!" the Dalek screams, firing at Jack.

The Dalek misses and Jack uses his big defabricator gun to shoot it, causing it to explode with a scream.

"You did it!" Rose cheers, standing and beaming at me.

Tears well up in my eyes and I run to her, throwing my arms around her neck: "why the hell are you so stupid!?" I hold her tightly.

"I wasn't gonna let you die," she mutters firmly, wrapping her arms around my waist. "Feels like I haven't seen you in years," she squeezes me.

"I said I was coming to get you, didn't I?" I smile, pulling away slightly.

"Never doubted it," she smiles widely.

"I did!" I snort. "You alright?" I ask as I pull away completely and look her over.

"Yeah," she nods. "You?"

"Eh," I shrug, making her snort.

"Doctor?" she turns to him.

"Not bad," he shrugs, pulling Rose into a tight hug. "Been better!" he smiles.

I smile at them before scowling down at what's left of the Dalek. I walk over and poke it with my wand, which I found in my room on my bed.

"Ew... that's worse than troll boggies," I wrinkle my nose.

"Quit poking it," the Doctor slaps my hand away.

"Hey, don't I get a hug?" Jack whines.

"Aw, come here!" Rose coos.

"I was talking to him," Jack says, making me shake my head, smiling.

I tune out the rest of their conversation as I watch the Doctor. His eyes had glazed over and his face was set in a dark expression while he clenches his jaw. I grab his hand, intertwining our fingers and he squeezes my hand, but his expression doesn't change.

"You said they were extinct," Rose comes over. "How comes they're still alive?"

"One minute they're the greatest threat in the universe, the next minute they vanished out of time and space," Jack tells her, folding his arms.

"They went off to fight a bigger war... the Time War..." the Doctor mutters.

"I thought that was just a legend," Jack gapes at him.

"I was there," the Doctor retorts, taking his hand from mine. "The war between the Daleks and the Time Lords with the whole of creation at stake... our people were destroyed, but they took the Daleks with them," he mutters, looking at me as tears well up in my eyes. "I almost thought it was worth it, now it turns out they died for nothing," he whispers.
