"Date"

I wake up with a throbbing headache. Xavier's arm is draped around me and I smile. I flip around to look at him. He stirs but doesn't wake up. I smile. Wes comes in and I pretend to be asleep.

"Subject 23087 and 41210 show mutual attraction to each other." Beth starts crying so I get up.

"It's okay baby." I lay back down and she looks up at Xavier.

"Dada?" I smile then I shake my head.

"No. If only." A smile appears on his face and he opens his eyes.

"Morning."

"Morning."

"Subject 21349 shows bonding to subject 23087."

"Okay, we're up jackass." Xavier and I sit up.

"Subject still shows hostility."

"What else do you expect?" Mom groans and that's when I realize the wall is up. I gag. They put it back down, sneaking looks at each other.

"Wes, I swear to freaking god if you comment on that I will snap your skinny little neck then I will suck the blood out of your body until you're flat."

"Okay." Suddenly Beth starts shivering.

"Baby." I pull her baby blanket out and I wrap it around her and Xavier gets a hat.

"You okay Beth?" I smile at him.

"It's cute how much you care."

"Why thank you. When's her birthday?"

"December 18th. Right around Christmas."

"I'll remember that."

"Not really your obligation but okay." I smirk at him.

"I wanted to ask you a question."

"And what is that?"

"Would you like to go on a sort of date with me?"

"I would very much like that. What will we do?"

"We will play poker, using these cards I found in that pile over there and these only blue poker chips." I laugh then I compose myself.

"That would be lovely."

"Say around sundown?"

"I think I could schedule you in." I pull my brown hair into a bun.

"Ember, I'd like to study you today."

"Let's take a raincheck. Sundown tomorrow." He nods and I pull my jacket on.

"You seem to have taken a liking to subject 23087."

"Are you always this boring?"

"I guess we'll find out."

Damon's P.O.V

I watch as Xavier plays with Beth. I guess he's a nice guy. He makes Ember smile which is rare these days. I pick up Wendy.

"Hey little miss." She smiles and I give her a big kiss on her cheek, making her laugh. Wes comes in.

"Where's my daughter?"

"She's being examined by Darin today. You all seem to be remotely happy considering your circumstances."

"Could be worse. Any one of us could be in here alone. We have our family." They suddenly drag a little girl in.

"How heartless are you?" They put her in the cell. Damien runs to her side. What? He's 6.

"Hello?" He brushes her hair out of her face and gets this look on his face. Oh no. First Ember and now Damien? But Ember's 19 he's 6. He picks her up and- what? When did he get so strong?!
