We shop around a little bit more. I get a new clutch for the party, along with new earrings, and makeup.
"The new haircut is totally gorgeous Elizabeth."
"It was time for a change."
"It was a good change." I smile at them. We head home and Mom comes downstairs.
"Oh my god! Elizabeth that is so cute!"
"Thanks mom. I thought you'd totally hate it."
"Are you kidding? You look beautiful Lizzie." I laugh and Dad comes in.
"What the hell?"
"Here we go."
"How could you let her do that to her hair Ember?"
"That's not your decision to make!"
"I'm still her father."
"I'm a teenager!" I yell. They both look at me.
"It's time for you to stop treating me like I'm a child."
"Then why don't you stop acting like one!"
"If anything you two are the children! I want to be a teenager! Everyone is so dependent on me saving the world that they forgot I'm not even 16 yet! I want to live my life and not worry about travelers or the fact that I'm a hybrid witch! So I'm not the one acting like a child. It's you." I storm upstairs. I take my shoes off and I sit on my bed. Wendy and Quinn come in.
"Your Mom and Dad are fighting."
"I have ears Wendy I can hear perfectly fine." I snap.
"I'm sorry. It's been a long day already."
"We understand if you don't want to go to the party."
"What time does it start?"
"7:00."
"Then we're going. I'm going to be at that party. I'm gonna drink cheap beer and I'm gonna have fun for once."
"Let's start getting ready." I pull my dress and heels out of the bag.
"God that dress looks amazing on you."
"Quinn's right." I laugh and they smile at me.
"Now the makeup. I got enough for a smokey eye look."
"And we have 1 hour." I apply the makeup and by then it's almost time to leave.
Damian's P.O.V
"I don't understand why you would let her do these things to herself!"
"It's her life Damian! Sometimes you can't control the people around you like you do so well!"
"I'm controlling?! What about you!?"
"How am I controlling?!? I let our daughter have a say in how she wants to look! And honestly, you need to get over yourself! This is not the man I wanted to marry!"
"Well then why don't you take your sorry ass back to Xavier as well as his child."
"Of course! You never focus on Elizabeth it just has to be your stupid jealously with Xavier!"
"You two were married for 14 years! That's longer then we were together!"
"That is not my fault!"
"You think it's mine?!?"
"No what I think is that you should've thought of how I was with touchy feely stuff during the pregnancy. Why the hell would you believe that I was having an affair?!?"
"I don't know I was scared!"
"Of what?!?"
"Of loosing you and Elizabeth! You had every right to hate me but still here we are. We're back in that same house where all of that happened. And we're doing nothing about it. It makes me think if you're just with me because I'm Elizabeth's father. If you really love me at all. I wouldn't."
"You wouldn't?!? Yes Damian you've got some god damn annoying as hell qualities but you have a lot of good ones! And even after everything that's happened, every kiss, every lie, every ounce of pain, through every fight we've had I've seen your good shine through and I find the power to forgive you because I don't want to loose you." My face softens. I smash my lips to hers and she kisses back with so much passion it surprises both of us. We finally pull away.
"What was that for?" She whispers.
"I haven't kissed you in a while. If we're going back to fighting might as well." She laughs.
"Okay just hear me out about Elizabeth."
"Damian it's her own life. Her own choice. She's had way too many choices taken away from her."
"In my eyes I still see that same little girl we brought home from the hospital that day. I never got to see her grow up. And to me that's the worst thing I've ever gone through. Going every day without knowing if my daughter is happy, or if she's sad. I hated knowing that when she was sad she wasn't in the arms of her real father. I wanted to be there but suddenly, Xavier could do everything, I couldn't. So I decided to let you go."
"Damian... Our daughter is 15 years old. She's spent the last 10 years with everyone counting on her, leaving no room for her to make mistakes. And young women need to make mistakes or they won't learn how to truly live."
"Will you come with me to talk to her?"
"Of course." We go upstairs and I knock softly on the door.
"Elizabeth?"
"Where's Wendy and Quinn?"
"I don't know." We push the door open to see an empty room.
"Wendy left her phone here." Ember picks it up, scrolling through the messages.
"They're going to a party at her boyfriend's house."
"How did we not hear the car pull out?"
"We were fighting."
"Damn it! This is why we can't encourage her."
"I think it'll be good for her."
"Ember, our daughter could get captured."
"She's with my badass little sister and the daughter of an original hybrid. She's safe."
"Did you ever talk to her about don't drive drunk?"
"Of course I did."
"She's still gonna get it."
"And I will give it with you."
"Good. Because this is unacceptable."
"I know."
"I'm calling her."
"Damian-"
"Don't." I snap. I press dial on Wendy's phone.
"Wendy? Are you okay where are you?"
"I don't know where are you?"
"D-Dad?"
"You need to come home immediately."
"What if I don't want to?"
"This is not a conversation Elizabeth Mary. Come home right now."
"No."
"Damn it Elizabeth!"
"Sorry Dad, but I'm having fun. Goodbye." I throw the phone down on the bed.
"Damn it!" I sit down and put my head in my hands.
"Damian-" I jerk away from Ember's touch.
"Don't touch me." She purses her lips and closes her eyes.
"Okay. I'm gonna go start dinner." She says quietly. She flits down the stairs. Was she... Afraid?
