I wake up first, my wife lying next to me. I pull her toward me, gently kissing her right temple.
"Damon...it's too early." She pulls the covers up on her and I laugh.
"But it's our first day as a real married couple."
"Early." I pull her closer to me, the sunlight hitting the bed and warming it.
"Come on Elena."
"Damon..." She whines. She snuggles the back of her head into the crook of my neck. She smiles up at me, stroking my cheek with her thumb. She falls back asleep and I do too. We wake back up at 11:00 to a car pulling up. Elena and I change back into some pajamas as there's a knock on the door. Elena pulls the door open.
"Hello. My name is Liv. This is my brother Luke." Both of us shake their hands.
"We were right Luke." Elena looks at me then back at them.
"May we?" They push past us into the house.
"Excuse me!"
"You're vampires." Elena rubs her temples.
"Witches."
"Guilty."
"What do you want?" Liv approaches Elena, and I step in front of her protectively.
"If we're right, we're not any harm to you or your family." Ember walks in with Beth.
"Who are you two?"
"This must be Ember. And Xavier. And Elizabeth." Liv kneels down to Beth's height.
"Hello there." Beth traces patterns on Ember's leg.
"May I see your hand?" She looks up at Ember. She carefully places her hand in Liv's, and she places her hand above Beth's.
"Luke, I see it."
"What? Is there something wrong?" Liv opens her eyes and lets go.
"You five might want to sit down." Ember and Xavier still stand up.
"Elizabeth is the reincarnation of Demetria Clio. Back in Ancient Greece, there was a group of witches that crossed one of the most powerful witches of all so she put a curse on them. In order for the witch to put the spell on them, she needed a supernatural being powerful enough to keep the spell sealed even after the witch died. Her name was Demetria Clio. She was a vampire, a doppelgänger, a werewolf, and a witch. When she turned 18, the witch used every last drop of her blood to seal the spell. The travelers want to break this spell. In order to do that-" Ember takes a huge breath in and her eyes go wide.
"They would need all of the being's blood then she would need to die." Ember sits down.
"No. They're not going to hurt her. We can protect her."
"But a prophecy says that the same being, if channeling enough power can do a spell to destroy the spell and all the travelers. Without doppelgänger sacrifice."
"Don't get me started on the irony of that. How do you know she'll be able to do this?" I ask.
"Because I saw it. When I grabbed her hand, I saw her future."
"What can we do?"
"If you let my brother and I stay here, we can teach her magic. We can teach her the spell."
"My question is- why? Why would you help complete strangers?"
"Because if the travelers succeed, it will wipe out all spirit magic."
