You woke up to feint, inconsistent tapping into your window. It took you a couple minutes to even realize the tapping was on your window. You glanced over sleepily and was nothing at your window. There were small pauses every so often between the taps. You groaned as you sat up, rubbing then small crusts from your eyes that stung slightly.
You walked over to your window in a sleepy daze then peered around your curtain's edge. Your eyes instantaneously widened in confusion, shock, and uneasiness. You backed away from your window, unsure of what to do. You couldn't imagine what could possibly bring him here. Just outside your window, on the ground below was none other than Joseph himself. Your mind began buzzing with ideas of what you should do. The tapping continued relentlessly. You sighed as you came to the conclusion that you had to just see what he wanted. You went back over to the window and pulled the curtains back then proceeded to unlock and open your window. You stuck your head out and looked down at Joseph, quietly calling down to him and inquiring what it is that he wanted.
"Meet me by the fountain tomorrow by yourself." Joseph responded in a voice only loud enough for you to hear. "If you don't show up then I'll just have to alert the military that a dangerous criminal is holding you and the Elrics hostage. And on your vacation too, what a shame!" Joseph smirked up at you.
You glared at you as you agreed to his request reluctantly. Joseph then have you the time to meet him at the fountain then departed with a disgustingly cocky "au revoir." You tolled your eyes then pulled your head back in and shut the window, locking it back. You pulled your curtains closed then headed back to bed. Tomorrow was not something you were excited about.
...
You looked at your reflection, admiring how you looked today. You grabbed your shoes as you sat down on your bed. As you slipped your shoes on, your bedroom door opened and a familiar palm tree walked in. He looked at you silently.
"What?" You asked, finishing tightening the strap on one shoe.
"Are you going somewhere?" Envy questioned as he watched you.
"I'm going out for a bit."
"I'll come too."
Your heart began racing as you looked at Envy. You hid your uneasy nerves and racing heart with a sweet, apologetic smile as you said, "I'm sorry, but I want to go out alone for a bit."
"Oh."
You felt a bit bad especially since he seemed so disappointed. You got up and walked over to him. You laid a hand on his chest lightly and gave him a sweet kiss on the cheek. You noticed a light blush forming on his cheeks.
"I really am sorry, Envy." You said once more.
"It's okay, just please enjoy your day out." Envy replied, smiling.
You smiled and hugged him quickly before departing for your dreaded day out with Joseph.
...
"Look at you. You look gorgeous!"
You glared at Joseph as you approached him. A compliment coming from him felt tainted and twisted to you.
"Smile, darling. We have to enjoy today." Joseph said as he took your hand in his.
"I don't want to enjoy today." You commented.
"Of course you do! You just think you don't want to because that monster has you absolutely brainwashed."
Your eyes widened, taken aback by what he said and how he had said it so plainly to you. You looked at him in shock.
"What did you say?" You asked, unable to believe it.
"Oh, nothing." He replied with a sweet, charming smile.
You didn't believe him, but you knew it was pointless to try to push for an answer. He wasn't the type to give in and talk just because someone pushed him to do so. Though you had been surprised by his statement, you knew exactly what Joseph had said and you still couldn't wrap your mind around it.
"Shall we begin our date?" Joseph asked. Then leaning in close to your ear, he instructed in a hushed voice, "And remember to smile, darling for today you shall act as my own." You gave him a harsh glare to which he replied with a wicked smirk, "Unless you want me to alert the authorities of your little friend." You signed in dismay knowing you had no choice but to do as he said. It was only one day after all and you were only doing it to protect Envy.
You forced a seemingly genuine smile and looked at Joseph. He smiled back and praised you for your "genuine" smile. You felt so angry that you could barely keep the smile up.
"Come on. I want to treat you to a nice lunch." Joseph said as he started pulling you off to some restaurant. What a day this was going to be.
