*Jay’s POV*

My throat was red and bleeding, but that was nothing compared to what Elliot had been through. Oh my God. He is dead. What the hell was Marley thinking saving him over her soul mate? She must know who he is, right? It certainly seemed that way now. I groggily pulled my torso off the ground, where I had fallen, to search for Marley and my eyes found her, crouched above Elliot’s pale limp body. Tears of sorrow raced down her ashen face.

Her mournful howls were so heart-breaking it made me weep. I wept for the lives lost in this war and the carelessly destroyed souls. I wept for my best friend and her endless pain. I was suddenly alerted to the sound of clear footsteps on the gravel courtyard, approaching fast, a path was formed to clear his path through the now silent and apprehensive audience. Looking in the offending direction, I rapidly blinked to clear my view from my watery eyes. What I saw made my blood run cold. Marley’s father was making his way over to us, the bastard he has now successfully ruined every positive outcome of Marley’s life since she was just a child. He deserved to die a very slow and a very excruciatingly painful death. Although any means of death brought to that vile man would suit him. I wouldn’t mind being the one to bring about that death, I thought. I slowly and deliberately rose to my feet, all the while glaring at Marley’s father; Ron strode over to where Marley and Elliot lay. As I made my way over to the Alpha, My eyes fixed on that smug face, my heart turned black and I had the full intention of murder.

I was 3 small steps away, and ready to strangle the life out of his worthless body, when my concentrated mind was suddenly distracted. Something was happening. Instinctively I glanced to Marley as an automatic protective gesture. However did a double take at what I saw.

Marley’s father had stopped 5 steps away from the crumpled couple. Looking down he began talking down to Marley.

“Marley Marley Marley. When will you learn? I always win.”

Being so close I heard Marley give a low menacing growl.

“Ha! Marely dear, you cannot fight me; your mate has just died in front of your very eyes. You will not be far behind, and all your precious powers will have died with that runt of the litter wolf, and like I said. I always win, as you have come to know, hahaha!”

Marley’s head slowly rose from Elliot’s eyes to her fathers. And as I watched, even after what I had seen of Marley it shocked me and even scared me. Marley’s dark brown hair slowly turned jet black from the roots; her ocean blue eyes were engulfed in black as her pupils grew and then slowly the iris grew a red band around the eerie black eyes. If that wasn’t freaky enough, her whole skin began to gradually turn jet black as she stood up protecting Elliot’s body. When she growled for the second time, two long wolf fangs protruded from her mouth.

Dark clouds whirled in fast, so dark that when the lightning started it became the brightest source of light, one of Marely’s hands was faced upwards towards the storm in a claw like motion, controlling the storm. She moved in front of Elliot’s body as she spoke to her father.

“This wolf isn’t going anywhere. I call upon the moonlight brothers.”

An uneasy rumbling passed through the crowd. The moonlight brothers could only be summoned by blood of the Royal brothers themselves. They were the shape-shifters we descend from, and had only been summoned to earth once before and that had ended in a slaughtering, as the moon brothers grant their beloved what they wish. And this particular Royal had gone insane with power and had asked of the brothers for power in everything. I was at a loss here, I had no idea Marley or her wolf was a Royal! Had she known this all along? No, she couldn’t of, she would of told him. And these past days had been hectic, not really time for a social call. Wow! My best friend is a Royal, and her appearance now looked fit for royalty, it shouted authority and a ‘don’t mess with me’ look. I looked to Marley’s father and he looked scared, I had never seen him looked scared before. This was definitely a first for me. As I analysed his expression, it turned to one of petrification as his eyes jerked to the right of where Marley stood and continued to widen so much the whites of his eyes made his pupils look small in comparison. A chorused gasp and some screams escaped from the audience, as they started to scramble to the doors leading back inside. However just as they reached the doors, they slammed shut with a clang and eerier silence followed, as everyone became aware of the three new auras to the atmosphere, as they seemed to take up the whole space with their prowess. I slowly turned my head to the direction of all the petrified faces. Three glowing  figures stood behind Marley, they began their conversation as my jaw dropped.
