Alright, I admit, I wanted a friend. Fuck.
I was only admitting to myself because if this gets to Evie's ears, I am doomed. She was annoying as fuck, bipolar and crazy also, but somehow, somewhere along the lines of these past few weeks Evie had managed to sneak up on me. And I didn't mind it. What the actual fuck, I know! But, it's the truth.
Not gonna lie, I wanted her to leave me the fuck alone and stop pestering me anymore, but when it came down to it, I suddenly despised the idea itself. Probably because I had gotten used to all her crazy acts and behaviors and they were more amusing as time went on, but I wouldn't admit that to her, she'd eat my ear off.
"Where were you?"-comes Bryan's barreling voice as soon as I open the door of the mansion. "And where the hell if your phone?"
"Dead battery."-I lie in a flat tone as I shrug off my jacket.
"You never have a dead battery, Balthazar. Never!"-he stops me in my path to go upstairs. "I waited for you outside your school. Mind telling me where did you disappear?"
Sighing, I cross my arms and look at him.
"The school gave me a tutor student to help me with my grades since I'm failing everything."-I lie smoothly once more. "And since I am supposed to blend in, I can't have my driver bring her here now can I?"-I ask raising an eyebrow.
"Why are you failing everything? You did amazing at your high school."
"I don't have the same motivation here. Wonder why."-I throw him a look.
"But why didn't you wait for me? And tell me?"
"And how would I explain who you are? It only would have complicated things and I thought that's the last thing we want for these three months."
"You could have texted to tell me this instead of just going off the grid."
"Would have you believed me?"-I ask and he looks down. "Exactly. Now you see my point. So, if this interrogation is over, I'm going upstairs." Passing by him, I start climbing up.
"Your father called."-his words make me stop.
"What does he want?"-I ask without turning.
"He wanted to talk to you and when I told him I couldn't find you, he went off. Also, apparently Pat is in town, so he suspected that you two were meeting." I turn to look at him over my shoulder.
"I didn't know Pat is here. Why's he here?"
"Don't know."-he says with a shrug. "But you weren't with him, right?"
"No, Bryan, I fucking wasn't."-I say annoyed. "I was at the bakery with her, this tutor. And I'd appreciate if you would trust me for once."-I snap at him.
"A girl huh?"-he asks giving me a look as he changes the subject.
"Girls are always smarter right?"-I say with a roll of my eyes as I climb the stairs.
"And how long will this be going on?"-he asks raising his voice.
"Until my grades go up."
So my father had a mole on Pat. That's just fucking perfect! This shouldn't surprise me, but stil, it makes me mad.
My father knew how to make my life worse than it really was, he knew where to push and I couldn't bring Evie into this. She was a human and this would get ugly if daddy dearest got any crazy ideas and decided to test them out.
Taking out my phone, I press the contact that could easy my mind right now.
"My sweet boy! You called!"-mom say ecstatic on the other side, making me chuckle.
