Chloe's POV

Beca bursts through the door of the cabin as I'm zipping up my bag.

"What's going on?" I ask, watching her as she collects up Aubrey's stuff.
"We're leaving."
"Why?"
"Aubrey's quitting."
"What? I told you to find out what's wrong with her, not to convince her to lose her job! What did you do?"
Beca grins.
"I just spoke to her. It's the right decision, Chlo," she says, before turning to me. She explains the situation, i.e. exactly what happened 4 months ago and the way everything all built up for Aubrey.

"I didn't realise she felt like that when working here."
"Yeah, she seemed so happy about not performing, I thought it was the only thing that made her puke. We were wrong." Beca shrugs.
"So where are we going?"
"To my place. I want to show you something."
"You do?" I have no idea what it is, but I'm already crazy excited.
"Yeah. Oh, the present I said I was sending you a few days ago was me, by the way. I don't know if you figured that out." She laughs. "Looking back, that should have been a bit of a signal for me. Like, who implies they are the gift they're sending to someone who's supposed to only be their best friend? It's clearly not a heterosexual ideology."

I stand up, leaning against the desk.

"I meant to ask you that, actually. Are you gay, or...?"
Beca whips her head around to look at me.
"Always direct, Chloe Beale. But yeah, I guess so," she says, continuing to take books from Aubrey's shelf. "It makes sense anyway, especially considering I always felt there was something missing from mine and Jesse's relationship-"
"A certain redhead?" I tease, crossing the room and wrapping my arms around her waist from behind. She jumps slightly, laughing.
"Well, not at the same time. But something about you always intrigued me. You were like the other side I thought I'd never get to see, I guess."
"You always said my thoughts of 'experimenting' were weird though," I counteract, seeing Aubrey approach in the distance. "Aubrey's coming, by the way," I add and press a light kiss on Beca's neck before moving back from her again.
"Only because it was different to what I had always been used to," she replies, glancing back at me. "I didn't expect to be anything other than straight, so anything that gave me other ideas was too much to process. I guess we'd better shut up now though, Aubrey probably won't be in the mood for unpacking my sexuality."

The way Beca talks always makes me smile. Like, she tries to play everything off, trying to be super casual and all that, but she's just so quirky and just not normal that it shines through anyway. But she's not just a weirdo now, she's my weirdo. Which is honestly something I never thought I'd be able to say.

"How did it go?" Beca asks as soon as Aubrey walks through the open door.
"Obviously they weren't happy... but I quit my job. I'm free. Let's just get out of here," she says, her face lighting up as she breaks the news.

"Don't you have memories attached to this place?" I ask as Aubrey takes over from Beca with packing things up.
"Yes, but nothing good has happened recently. Besides, when I helped the Bellas, that's associated with Bella memories, not with working here. I'm ready to move on from the Lodge," she says, shrugging a bag onto her back.
"That's everything?" Beca asks doubtfully, gesturing at Aubrey's one bag.
"Yep, I had to learn to let things go whilst working here. The motto was 'have only what you need, then half that'."
"Jesus." Beca picks up both mine and her bags and heads towards the door.

"Hey, you don't have to do that," I say, signalling the bags. I follow them both out of the cabin. Beca turns to me and smiles.
"Yeah, but I can."
Aubrey looks at the two of us.
"Woah, Chloe, you've got Beca to be openly generous?"
Beca's face goes pink and she turns her head away from the both of us as she leads the way to the exit.
Aubrey leans towards me.
"It was worth writing that email, clearly. She's besotted with you, I think she just needed that little push, you know? And I guess you did too. But the Bellas always help out on that one. Especially Fat Amy."

We reach the car park, where the taxi I called is already waiting. The driver helps Beca put the bags in the boot before getting back in the car.

"We're all getting in the back?" Beca asks doubtfully.
"Oh, you're small, you can go in the middle," Aubrey replies. Beca just laughs and shakes her head.
"After all the nice stuff I've done, all you do is insult me. Thanks."

If I wasn't already somehow involved with Beca, I would probably even ship these two a little. They're priceless.

"Just get in, you two. Some of us actually want to go to LA," I joke, climbing in after them both.

We drive along for several minutes, the three of us lost in our thoughts; the driver hardly a chatty guy.

"I hate flying," Beca says suddenly, breaking the silence. "You're basically in an airtight container for hours on end. It's not like I'm a homemade cookie," she huffs grumpily.
Aubrey and I laugh at her indignation.
"I'm sure Chloe can make it more exciting for you." Aubrey raises an eyebrow at the two of us.
"There's worse people you could be sitting next to," I point out.
"True." Beca smiles, resting her hand on my leg. "As long as you don't just fall asleep. Because I'll just get bored. Even if you look adorable."
I blush a little at her sudden compliment and lean in to kiss her cheek, but she turns her head at the last second, catching her lips on mine. She smirks as she pulls away again.
"Sorry, I had to do it."
"Wow." I laugh, looking into her eyes. "Well, feel free to do it again sometime." I wink.
"Okay, okay, can we please leave this for another time? I don't exactly enjoy third wheeling when I have no means of escape," Aubrey interrupts. Ugh, she's always interrupting us. First at the casino, then last night and now here. Will I ever get Beca alone for more than 5 minutes?
"Hey, you seem to be forgetting that you set this up." Beca gestures at the two of us as she looks at Aubrey. "So stop complaining."
"Ugh, fine. But don't come and bother me when I'm wearing my eye mask and earplugs on the plane."
"Fine," Beca replies, folding her arms grumpily. But when she turns to me, she catches my eye and bursts out laughing.

I honestly think I'm in love.
