Chapter 21

Nicki (2 weeks later)
So the girls are starting school tomorrow. Well at least Cameron and Kellise are. Cameron's going into 7th grade and Kellise is a junior this year.
"Mom! Which pants should I wear?! Come look!" Cameron yelled from down the hall. I got out of bed and walked into her room, sitting down on the bed.
"I think you should wear your jeans. The light washed ones." I said and she nodded.
"Thanks mom." She said laying her outfit on her chair. She then sat down on the bed next to me and laid her head down on my shoulder.
"You think I'll make friends on the first day?" She said and I smiled a bit.
"Of course you will. Why'd you ask that?" I asked
"I just remember starting middle school and it wasn't the best." She said and I pulled her into me.
"Well, you'll be at a brand new school with brand new kids. It should be a better start." I said and she nodded.
"Thanks mom." She said before climbing up further on her bed.

Kellise
You got this Kel, just relax. I said to myself as I walked into the brand new school. I didn't feel like walking around in the hallway so I found my class and got there three minutes early. I saw this pretty brown skinned girl sitting at the desk in the back on her phone.
"Hey, I'm Kellise." I said sitting down next to her. She looked up and smiled.
"Hey. I'm Ashleigh. You're new here?" She asked and I nodded.
"Yeah. How'd you know?" I said with a giggle.
"I didn't. But I do know if we weren't new, we wouldn't be here ten minutes before class started." She said and we both laughed.
"Can I see your schedule?" She asked and I nodded handing it to her. I texted Aaron while she looked over both of our schedules.
A-You got in yet babe?
K- Yeah. I'm sitting in class now
A-oh okay. How you feeling?
K-I'm feeling okay for now? But I do feel a little light headed and my stomach hurts for some reason.
A- I'm sorry baby😩 I'll take care of you after school okay?
K-okay😘 you don't have football practice?
A-Cancelled today.
K-Okay. I'll see you after school.
A- Okay I'll talk to you later gorgeous.
"Kellise, we have all the same classes except sixth period." Ashleigh said.
"I guess we're gonna be good friends huh?" I said and she nodded.
"I guess so." She replied with a smile
Cameron
"Now I want you all to get to know everyone at your table. Ask them what their name is and one fun thing they did over the summer. Go." The teacher said. It was the last ten minutes of eight period and I was ready to go already.
"Aren't you Nicki Minaj's daughter." The girl said looking at me and I nodded slowly.
"You can't speak up?" One of her friends said laughing.
"I..."
"Well, I can understand why you couldn't fully answer that question. It's not like she's your real mom. You were an orphan until a little while ago right?" She said looking at me with a fake grin and her friends laughed along with her.
"How does it feel being a fake rich girl for a couple years? You like the silver spoon and gourmet food that's getting shoved down your throat don't you?" She asked and I didn't say anything, I couldn't. How could I respond to that?
"She's gonna get tired of you. She only adopted you to get attention from the public eye. Being in the tabloids gets you a lot of money you know. As well as embarrassment, with you knowing that your life is all an act. I hope you had a good summer." She said raising her hand.
"Yes, Jada. Do you know what your classmates did over the summer?" The teacher asked.
"Yes I do. My friends and I actually went to Hollywood together and that's the best thing we did. But Cameron here is new and she told us all about how she got adopted this summer." She spoke loudly as the whole class turned around and looked at me.
"That sounds very fun girls. And Cameron, that's something that's very special, congratulations." She said and my cheeks flushed with embarrassment. The bell rang and everyone hurried out of the classroom.
"Bye everyone. Make sure you bring your syllabus back to me signed on Thursday." The teacher said and I quickly gathered my things. Jada slapped my folder out of my hand and looked at me in the eye.
"Oops. Have a nice day." She said waving and leaving out of the classroom with her two friends.
I shoved all my papers and folder in my backpack and left. My mom was waiting in her Range Rover in the car line. I hurried and got in the front seat, throwing my bag in the back.
"How was your first day?" My mom asked, pulling off to the house.
"It was good. I made friends." I said looking at my phone.
"That's good. I told you, you would." She said and we drove home.
Kellise (at home)
I was doing my homework at the kitchen table with Aaron and I got this sudden urge to throw up. I held my chest and ran to the nearest bathroom. I leaned over the toilet and let out all my insides.
"Damn baby you okay?" Aaron said running the bathroom. I nodded as he helped me up to sit on the edge of the tub.
"I don't know what's wrong." I said and he kissed my temple.
"How about you brush your teeth then come lay down. You want wa..."
"What's going on? What happened?" Nicki asked coming in the bathroom.
"She just started throwing up randomly." Aaron answered for me as he rubbed my back.
"We need to take you to the hospital." Nicki said and I shook my head.
"No auntie. It's probably something I ate. I don't think we need to go to the hospital." I said and she shook her head.
"Aaron. Help her get ready. We're going to the hospital." My aunt said before walking out.
"Uh... is she okay?" Aaron asked and I shrugged. Maybe she's stressed about something right now.
