You're their daughter! The day you were born- Suddenly all the preparing they had done over the last nine months when your mom's water broke it was the scariest and most exciting feeling either of them had ever felt. It wasn't until they had been married just over a year and a half that they had decided to start trying for you. The band had taken a year break and with your mom's career study and successful, they felt like right now was the best time. Though your mom screamed and swore at your father, Jack, the whole time, as soon as you were out in the world and placed into their arms, they both starting crying.
Jack didn't have believed that a creation could be so beautiful until he saw you. 5.5 ounces and big beautiful eyes just like your moms, his heart had already had its breath taken away by you.
"Welcome to the world Y/n"He whispered, placing a soft kiss to your forehead as your eyes closed and sleep took over you so peacefully. Tears ran down your mom's face as she watched the scene, nothing had ever felt more perfect to her than this moment. Both of them knew that you were the best thing that ever happened to them.
First Birthday- The whole Why Don't We family was there. They had it in the backyard of their new house. Pink and yellow balloons and decorations all over, stacks of gifts taller than Jonah. They weren't sure if you remember that, or ever would, but even at 18 you still have the large Costco bear in the corner of your room, the one your dad gave you for your first birthday. You all played around in some cake, very messy but your mom loved every moment of it; so much so there was 4 pages worth of photos of it.
The first day of kindergarten- Your mom was a mess. Jack was in shock. Somehow, they blinked and you were already five, sitting on the steps of your beautiful house while your mom took a 'first-day picture'. You had gotten so big, grown so much, started to create your own likes and dislikes on things. Somehow you were your own little person, who with lots(and we do mean lots) of practice, could tie your own shoes, who now slept in a big girl bed, who went to the potty all on your own. Some days your mom missed the first day you were born. She had realized the hardest thing about being a mom is knowing that as they get older, they can't save you from everything, not the way they could on that first perfect day.
"Momma, whats wrong?"You asked from your car seat, causing her to chuckle in the passanger seat as she wiped away tears from her cheek.
"You're just getting so big baby, momma can't believe it" It was at that moment, Jack looked back at you from his rearview mirror, giving you a sweet smile which you returned.
One thing you had noticed over your short little life was the way he looked at your mom as if she was the sun and he was a just a planet floating through space, like she was the center of his universe.
First day of High School- Once again; they were shocked. Somehow you managed to lose all your teeth and get new ones, grow a set of boobs , and is now referred to as a "teen". At 14 years old, you sat on the same steps you did on your first day of kindergarten and smiled as your mom and dad looked at you so proudly. This was a big step for all three of you, mostly Jack as he tried to put a turtleneck on you at 6:30 in the morning. High school meant boys, which Jack wasn't a fan of. At one point he was one of the boys that walked the hallway, he knew how they think, knowing that alone made him wanna punch himself in the face.
"Call me if you need anything, okay?"He told her seriously as your mom stood in the background and rolled her eyes. They had kinda switched rolls over the years, Jack had become more protective and your mom had become okay with you being older and the freedom that comes with that.
You owed a lot to your mom, every time your dad got strict, she fought for you, made him see that not always was it fair, that they had so many reasons to trust you.
That being said, it didn't mean she wasn't strict either, but by 14, you knew when to pick your battles.
First date- "I don't like this"Jack said, pacing downstairs as your mom sipped a glass of wine. You were upstairs getting ready for your first date. Now you were seventeen. You drove your own car, had a job to help pay your own bills(phone, clothes, ect). You had grown up so beautifully, and every day both Jack and your mom told you they were so proud of you.
You had been talking to this boy for nearly a month, hanging out with him a lunch, driving you home, but both of you stayed in the friendzone- both with hopeless crushes on the other. He had finally asked you out on a date, which of course you said yes too. But that wasn't the scary part. The scary part was telling Jack.
"Relax babe, she's 17, she's a big girl now"
"No, she's not, she's my little girl, she always will be"
"Your right, she will always be your little girl. Your little big girl" Jack gave a side look before they heard you walking down the stairs. The boy was taking you out for dinner and a movie, which made Jack feel a little better, lots of public places.
"Aw honey, you look amazing" Your mom told you, placing a hand on her mouth. Neither of them would ever be ready for you to be a grown-up, but here you were.
"You look beautiful," Jack told her, keeping his calm face on- until he heard the door knock.
"Home by 11!"They yelled as you ran towards the door, your cheeks already hurting from smiling.
Graduation- Your friends and family stood around the pool, everyone with drinks and food in their hands, everyone here to celebrate you.
"If I could have everyone's attention" Jack said, taking a knife to his wine glass ever so slightly.
"Y/n, for the last 18 years you've impressed us every day, somehow you always found a way to top the day before. We stand here today to celebrate you. For graduating, for getting into Havard, for being the incredibly extraordinary little girl we raised you to be; maybe even better than that. So I invite everyone to raise their glasses to you, to the best thing that has ever happened to me and your mother, to everything amazing you have already done, and everything amazing you will accomplish. I've seen you every day for 18 years, and I'm confident there isn't anything you can't do. I love you baby girl"
