SEVEN • A TWIN'S ARGUMENT
The following weeks after the announcement, was one of pure destruction. Sirius wouldn't dare speak to neither of them, and everywhere Kassandra went horrendous looks followed. - Jealousy never did suit a woman's looks, according to Kassandra.
It took about a week to get in the routine of how she was supposed to act around James now. She still wanting to act as only a friend. - Except now they had to snog in the halls, hold hands, it was all really weird, if you'd ask her.
That didn't mean classes suddenly took time off, on the contrary, she had more homework than she's ever had to deal with in her whole schooling career. But if she wanted to one day be an auror, or a healer, she needed good grades. And that meant studying harder, because they were in their N.E.W.T level classes, and Kassandra would be damned if she failed a single class. Even the classes she hated, like Transfiguration, she still would study her hardest.
Meeting up with James in the common room, a smile graced Kassandra's lips. She had to keep up pretenses, of course, but she had to admit, the butterflies just would not disappear. Though she'd rather die than admit such a thing out loud. She would not be selfish, after all, Lily and James were perfect for each other. At the rate Kassandra was going, she didn't think she was perfect for anybody.
"Hey love," James greeted her with a peck on the cheek.
Instantly, Kassandra's cheeks heated up. She still hadn't managed to get used to James calling her anything besides her name, or Spots. It was different. But Kassandra didn't necessarily hate it, either.
"Hey," Kassandra greeted with a smile. "Ready to head to breakfast?"
"Ready if you are," James replied.
Together, the two walked hand in hand towards the Great Hall. Not knowing the drama that would soon unfold.

IF SOMEBODY WOULD HAVE, told James Potter that his fake girlfriend and his best mate would have a row that morning at breakfast, he would have simply avoided the Great Hall all together. It all started as soon as they sat down for breakfast. Sirius was being his usual snarky self, and was chatting it up with Marlene McKinnon, when James and Kassandra overheard him talking about Kass.
"She's being a slag, honestly. Did she not know how I would react?" Sirius had said, almost as if he wanted his twin to hear.
"What did you just call me?" Kassandra hissed, as she stared at her twin. Loathing clear in her eyes.
"You heard me, your being a slag. Shagging my best mate, and did not even have the audacity to tell me that you were even interested in him!"
James had flinched, he begged his mouth to open up and tell Sirius it was all fake. But he didn't, because that would ruin his chances on making Lily Evans jealous. He didn't like the way his words seemed to affect Kassandra, though. Sirius was going too far.
"H-how dare you!" Kassandra shouted, her eyes welling up with tears that made James want to cry himself. "You know what, Sirius? Sod off, mister I don't care about anyone. Just stay away from me!"
James sat there in stunned silence as Kassandra stood up from her seat, and ran out of the Great Hall. James could not for the life of him understand the pang that settled in his chest. For he knew Kassandra was hurt by her brothers words.
"Padfoot, really?" James spoke out into the silence that had been ensued by Kassandra's departure. "She's not the one you should be angry at. If anything I asked her out. She's the only sister your ever going to get, so take it easy will you? Those words are how rumors get started."
And with those words, James left the Great Hall, leaving his friends in stunned silence. He left in search of Kassandra. He had to keep up pretenses with the fact she is his 'girlfriend' but she was more than that. She was his best mate, and he was the reasoning she was in this predicament In the first place.

MEANWHILE, Kassandra found her comfort in sitting by the Black Lake, staring out into the vastness in silence. Tears stained her cheeks from angry-filled words her brother had uttered about her. It was the first time her and her brother ever really fought, and it made her feel horrible. She felt guilty, and she just wished all these emotions would simply disappear. She didn't understand what emotions she were truly feeling, but either way she hated them. She wished she'd never feel emotion ever again. Perhaps life would be better that way.
Tears continued to pour down the girl's face, as arms wrapped around her. She froze up for a moment, before relaxing as she felt the comforting arms of James Potter.
"I'm so sorry, Kassi," James murmured as he rubbed her back in soothing circular motions. "This is all my fault."
"D-don't blame y-yourself, Prongs," She said with a chocked sob. It was the first time she's broken down in front of anyone. Especially James. "It's not your fault."
Kassandra heaved a heavy sigh as she buried her face in James' chest. The smell of peppermint, and James' aftershave filled her nose. It calmed her down slightly.
She didn't know how long the two sat exactly like that, no words exchanged, just comforting arms holding her tight and rubbing soothing circles on her back. It was peaceful. They looked more like a couple than best mates, but after all, a couple is what they were pretending to be. Though both of them knew it had to mean something more than that. That day, James Fleamont Potter and Kassandra Lenora Black, skipped classes all together, just to enjoy the day, and to recover from Sirius' words.
• • •LILY EVANS, However, was in a state of total confusion. James had almost always pestered her since Second year, and for him to suddenly act as if she wasn't even there bothered her and she did not know why. She shouldn't feel that way, because Kassandra was a great person, and Lily liked her, but she was feeling utterly jealous.
"Evans, wait up!" Shouted lucas meadows, a Gryffindor boy with shaggy blonde hair. Lily had to admit he was quite cute.
"Yes, Meadows?" Lily asked with a raised eyebrow, she's only spoken to him a handful of times, but nothing like the way he addressed her now.
He smiled. His blue eyes crinkling.
"I heard your the top of the class in Potions, I was wondering if you could help?"
"Of course, id be delighted to."
