    THIRTEEN • TEMPORARY AMNESIA

       (PART THREE.)

TO SAY SIRIUS BLACK WAS DEPRESSED, was simply not doing how he was feeling justice. He felt absolutely terrible, not only for allowing his only twin sister to end up hurt, but for the rumors he's caused, and for simply being a terrible brother. He didn't mean to get as angry as he did, but he just doesn't want his sister to wind up hurt. And he felt envious about how she could easily feel love, whereas just the thought of attachments made him uneasy.

He shared a glance with his twin sister, and felt guilty upon the smile she gave him, and the nod of encouragement she gave him. If only she remembered that she was smiling at the one who started a rumor that she was a slag.

Sirius cleared his throat, "I don't deserve that smile, you know?" He began, while the boys seemed to hold in a breath. He saw the confusion in his sisters eyes, making him sigh, guiltily. "We, Er, we may have had a falling out," he admitted.

"Why?" Kassandra asked with curiosity in her tone, making him feel worse. And it was the first time she's spoken since they started the memories.

"First, I should explain that you and James are a couple," Sirius sighed.

He had not known the look of warning on James' face, otherwise he would have questioned everything and possibly would have punched his best mate. The look of sympathy that passed on Kassandra's face didn't go unnoticed, however as she stole a quick glance at James. Her cheeks had turned slightly pink. But she did not interrupt, and for that, Sirius was quite thankful.

"I.. I was angry, because of how we're all best friends, and just before he asked you out, he was talking about Lily Evans, and I just didn't want him to hurt you," Sirius continued. "So I stormed out of the Great Hall, furious, and went to blow off some steam. Well afterwards, I was talking with Marlene McKinnon, loud enough for you to hear, and I.. I called you a slag."

Sirius watched as Kassandra flinched at the term, and it made him feel a lot worse. Especially since she still smiled at him, encouraging him to continue. But he felt as if he didn't deserve her kindness or her forgiveness. And to think, he still hasn't made it to his memory yet.

"I.. I felt horrible, even after I said it, you know? But I, I couldn't take it back. I'm so sorry, Kassie, because you did not deserve that. I don't even deserve your forgiveness," Sirius paused, taking a deep breath. "Anyway, I'm going to tell you my memory now. And hopefully it'll help you remember, because, well, because I need my sister, and we all need you."

After possibly saying the nicest thing Sirius has ever said to anyone, he sighed. Contemplating which memory he would talk about, before it finally popped into his head. He didn't look at his sister again, otherwise he would have seen a tiny speck of recognition in her eyes, but he decided to start his memory.

"We were having Christmas with our parents and Regulus, it was before we managed to make Gryffindor and disappoint them," Sirius managed a bitter chuckle. "Everyone was laughing about a joke you had said. It was to Dads expense, too. You said, 'c'mon dad, why must you always talk about work? Like hellooo it's Christmas, and open your eyes and see that we have presents to open mister! You haven't forgotten have you?' And I swear M-Mum was laughing so hard that tea came out of her nose," Sirius barked out a laugh.

He took a glance at his sister to see how she cracked a grin, and her eyes were slowly becoming clearer as recognized shown inside of them. But Sirius didn't have a moment to question it as he was sucked into his own memory.

THE ANCIENT MOST NOBLE HOUSE OF BLACK, was decorated with Christmas lights, Christmas tree, photographs hung up on the walls of the family. The whole demeanor was brighter than it became in the future. Even the spirits of each and every person that resides in the home. It was a time that Sirius Black greatly enjoyed, before the family became the root of all things pureblood. Of course, their parents still believed in blood purity, but they kept those things away from their children.

Sirius Black was excited as he woke up his twin sister, Kassandra, and their youngest brother, Regulus, as he raced them down the stairs and into the dining room, where Walburga and Orion sat, with Orion talking about his job at the Ministry.

"Oh, C'mon, dad!" Said Kassandra in exasperation as she walked in beside of Sirius, with Regulus trailing behind. "Why must it always be about work?" She put her hand on her hips dramatically. "Like Hellooo, it's Christmas. Open your eyes and see that we have presents to open mister! You haven't forgotten, have you?"

Sirius waited, holding his breath for backlash that never came. No, what surprised him was the fact that Walburga erupted with laughter, and tea came out of her nose. Orion looked shocked before, he, too, bursted with laughter.

"Geez, a sassy daughter we have, Burga," Orion said with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"S-she gets it from you, dear!" Walburga gasped out in between laughter.

It was the best Christmas the Black's would have. Because after that, Sirius only experienced Christmas at Hogwarts, and at the Potters.

TEARS WELLED UP INSIDE KASSANDRA'S EYES, for memories had started coming back to her in tiny snippets. From her first year at Hogwarts, to her first kiss with James, the fake dating, to studying with Remus, pranking with her brother, and the dreadful argument the siblings had shared, to last but not least, why she was in the Hospital Wing to begin with.

"I.. I remember," Kassandra sobbed as she got up out of her bed, and hugged each and everyone of the boys. "I'm so sorry."

"No!" The boys shouted in unison, after cheering that she remembered. "You have nothing to be sorry for."

"Yeah, it was our fault for not looking after you," piped up Peter.

"No, Wormy, wrong term. I can look out for myself," Kassandra managed a grin.

"It's good to have you back, Kass," Said Remus, hugging her again.

"It's good to be back, Moony."

James hugged her close, and Kassandra tried so hard to ignore the butterflies in her stomach. Because it was still only an act. Sure, she believed he must be worried because she's still his best friend, but she doubts he reciprocated her feelings.

"I-I'm glad your okay, love," James said, his voice slightly cracking.

"It's okay, love, I'm here," Kassandra whispered soothingly, before she faced her brother.

Sirius timidly wrapped his arms around her.

"I'm so sorry, Spots.. its all my fault," Sirius replied with a sob.

"No, Padfoot," she said, using his nickname to show that she had indeed forgiven him. "You dont have to apologize. I'm okay, and we're good, yeah? I love you."

"I.. I love you too!" Kassandra smiled at her twins words, it was the first time they managed to actually show affection as siblings.

All in all, it was a beautiful moment, and Kassandra couldn't be happier now that the Marauders were back in business. And hopefully the drama would stay away for awhile. One could only hope.
