SIX • TO BE A FAKE GIRLFRIEND

The very next day, Kassandra woke up to feeling like her insides had turned to jelly. Her eyes stung with the need to sleep, as she really didn't get much last night. She knew she shouldn't of agreed to James. After all, her own emotions were getting messed with. - And yet here she was, willing to break her own heart. Her own feelings don't really matter. As long as James is happy in the end. Besides, it'd be kinda hilarious to see Sirius' reaction. She smirked.

She had to remind herself, that she was not doing this to be selfish. She was doing this to be a good best friend.

Sighing, she made her way towards the Great Hall by herself in silence. She didn't know how well her brother would handle the news, especially since they weren't allowed to know that it was all fake. It meant nothing to James. It shouldn't mean anything to Kassandra either, but somehow it does.

     It means nothing.

She kept trying to repeat in her head like a mantra. It didn't help the fluttering feelings inside of her chest, or the way nausea gripped at her throat at the mere thought of what she had agreed to do. She was bloody terrified. And nothing could ease her mind, at least not until she saw him.

James stood in the Great Hall, beside of Sirius, laughing at something. His black hair messy as ever, and his hazel eyes searched the room, landing on hers. He gave her a cheeky wink, and Kassandra couldn't help but grin. She looked down the Gryffindor table, seeing Lily Evan's eyebrows furrow in confusion, probably wondering why James hasn't spoken to her yet. It made Kassandra smile all the more. The looks the two shared did not go unnoticed by Remus, Peter, or her twin brother. They all stood there, demanding what was up.

"Hey Kass!" James shouted with excitement, more so than usual, as he ran up to her and wrapped her in a hug.

A warm fuzzy feeling engulfed her as she giggled, hugging him back.

"Hey Prongs," Kassandra greeted, pulling away slightly as she looked at him.

She allowed her steely grey eyes to convey a message. Her eyes said, 'we're doing good, now ask the question.'

JAMES, the boy who was normally oblivious to everything around him, understood as he looked into Kassandra's eyes. He took a deep breath, as he looked at the questioning looks Sirius, Remus, and Peter were sending him and Kassandra. It was now or never.

"Go out with me," James blurted, as he witnessed the shock and angry filled expression that lined up on Sirius' face, as he stormed out of the Great Hall. James gulped.

HOWEVER, Kassandra stood frozen. She knew the question was coming, but she didn't know it would have the affects it had on her. It appeared great in the eyes of everyone that had witnessed the bomb shell of a question. It appeared real, instead of fake like it truly was. Kassandra even noticed a hint of jealousy in Lily's eyes. Which meant that perhaps the plan her and James were doing, wouldn't take very long at all.

To be a fake girlfriend, Kassandra would have to keep her own feelings in check, whatever they were. To be a fake girlfriend, she'd have to selflessly put others feelings before hers. To be a fake girlfriend would be nothing like she expects it to be.

With only a moment of hesitation, Kassandra said the word, "Yes!" Before flinging her arms around James, and surprising everyone in the Great Hall, she kissed him.

The kiss was nothing like the first time they kissed the night before. It sent electricity up her spine, in a good way. It felt right to be there in James' arms. But she knew it was all a ploy. A ploy to get Lily Evans to go out with James. She pulled away after a few moments, applause erupted in the Great Hall. All except Sirius, he was nowhere to be found.

ANGER COURSED THROUGH, Sirius Black's veins as he kicked a wall in the corridor. How his best mate could just ask his sister out like that, it was abnormal. He was angry. He wasn't even aware that his best mate had feelings for his twin sister, considering just before James and Kassandra had detention, his focus was solely on Lily Evans. What Sirius really needed was to blow off some steam, and what better way to do that, then to snog or shag some girl.

Because Sirius Black did not do attachments. It was clearly a no strings attached kind of thing for him, and that's the way he liked it. He didn't believe in love, he found the whole idea ridiculous. And he found Kassandra ridiculous for even believing in the idea of love. Especially with James Potter. Of course, some rational part of his mind was glad it was James who Kassandra would end up with. After all, they were best mates and he was a good lad. However, that wasn't who he believed Kassandra was a good match for.

No, he thought Kassandra would end up with Remus. The shy quiet boy, not a loud arrogant one. One who Sirius was sure was going to hurt his one and only twin sister. After all, Sirius knew that James would not so easily give up his affections for Lily, and Sirius would surely hurt him if he winds up hurting Kassandra.

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, he ran into Kayla Young, the ravenclaw girl he had hooked up with on many occasions. He smirked, that would be his way to blow off some steam. It may have been wrong, but Sirius had never once been the kind of guy to back down from a girl. He liked the feeling it left him with, one that wasn't so screwed up in the idea of love. Because he did not love anyone, except for maybe his sister.

"Hello love, how about you and I take a break, and find a broom closet?" Sirius spoke as he sauntered up to Kayla.

The girl agreed without a moment's hesitation, and the two found themselves locked in an intimate passionated shag. It awoke something in Sirius, something that he swore was going to kill him.

The over dramatic git that he was, deciding to do what he does best. Run. Once they were finished, he stated that he was done with her, and walked away without another word.
