A/N; sorry it has to be in parts, I'm trying to write from Kassandra, James, and Sirius' prospective for the Christmas presents.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN; A VERY AWKWARD CHRISTMAS.

(PART ONE)

WINTER CAME QUICKLY, and with it, came the Christmas Holidays, where James Potter, Sirius Black, and Kassandra Black where staying at the Potter's household. It was warm, on Christmas morning when Kassandra woke up. Her eyes trailed over every inch of the spare bedroom in which she slept. She had finally talked Fleamont Potter, James' dad, into repainting her room a deep maroon color, to stray away from the once white colored scheme. That isn't all,  of course. She had hung up pictures of the countless memories that she had taken throughout her Hogwarts career.

In one picture, there stood a younger James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew, along with Kassandra Black. She stood in between James and Sirius, and they all were wearing goofy smiles. Kassandra's arm were propped up on James' and Sirius' shoulders. It was taken back in third year, when the group of five met up in Diagon Alley at Florean's icecream parlor.

The next picture brought tears to Kassandra's eyes. In it, it was only a picture of her and James. That was in fourth year, when Professor Dumbledore had decided to host a Christmas ball. James had originally tried asking Lily to go with him, but she had turned him down, so Kassandra offered to go with him, to which he didn't refuse. It was a just friends kind of thing, but it was a nice memory. Kassandra wore a burgundy colored strapless dress that came up to her knees, her hair was curled and put into an elegant bun, thanks to Marlene McKinnon. James wore a suit and tie, in which Kassandra teased him about for hours. In the picture, Sirius had made Kassandra kiss James on the cheek.

But of course it was only a joke back then, feelings weren't really involved, but Kassandra wanted to cry as she looked at those pictures.

Shaking herself out of her reverie, she got up and began getting dressed. Once she was showered and dressed for the day, the young girl hopped down the stairs, and walked into the kitchen. She smiled politely at Euphemia and Fleamont, before quietly taking a seat beside of Sirius, and as far away from James as possible. She wasn't avoiding him, not really, but she did try to keep communication with him to a minimum. It was proving to be a very awkward Christmas.

"Happy Christmas, guys," Kassandra broke the tense silence, a small smile on her face.

"Happy Christmas!" The four chorused back at her, smiles breaking out on their faces as well.

Kassandra's smile did not waver, for she was truly happy despite the circumstances with James. Sure, things were very awkward, but they could still act like a family, and for that, she was very grateful.

(But little did everyone know, Euphemia and Fleamont has already figured out what went down between James and Kassandra, thanks to James. And they were already plotting ways to get the two together, because they indeed wanted it to happen, they like Kassandra.)

DAYS EARLIER, when the Christmas holidays had first began, James Potter was feeling desperate. He hated how awkward things had become between him and Kassandra, that girl practically haunts his thoughts now. To which, James usually would brush off, and talk about how beautiful Evans is, but he couldn't brush this feeling off any longer. It demanded to be felt, and Merlin, James Potter had fallen in love with Kassandra Lenora Black.

How could he not? She's a very loving person, and loyal. She loves a good competition, like himself, and no matter what she always supported his decisions, even when he was wrong. She's absolutely stunning, with her steely grey eyes and curly black hair. Her middle name means light, and that couldn't be more fitting according to James.
