CHAPTER NINETEEN; TOGETHER AT LAST.

SADNESS SWELLED INSIDE OF HER, like a raging storm, as she had packed her things away the night before. They were set to have the end of Term feast before they were scheduled to leave for the summer. The next year would be their final year at Hogwarts, and she wasn't sure how she was supposed to feel about it at all. It was overwhelming, and she tried not to think of it, because she did in fact still have one more year. And with Euphemia's warning the day before, she was slightly nervous, and honestly a bit excited. For she did not know what was in store.

(Sirius knew, in fact, he's the one that had helped set it up, which Kassandra won't ever know.)

Sighing, she walked out of the Gryffindor common room, surprisingly alone, which she couldn't help but feel weary about. It was highly unusual for the boys to head to the Great Hall without her. Especially recently because her twin brother, Sirius had become entirely clingy. It was almost as if he were afraid she'd abandon him or something, which she would never do.

She would of never abandoned Regulus either, but she had too. Her poor younger brother was hanging around the wrong crowd, and had said something recently that Kassandra was terrified of. Terrified for her youngest sibling. She believed he would soon be plagued with the Dark Mark upon his forearm, and he'll soon pledge his allegiance to the rising Dark Wizard who called himself Lord Voldemort, or the Dark Lord to his followers. Mostly known as You-Know-Who, to the ones afraid to speak his name. Kassandra wasn't afraid, because fear of a name only increases fear in the thing itself.

After walking inside of the Great Hall, Kassandra took a seat beside of Sirius and Peter. Remus was on Sirius' other side, and James was stood next to the Headmaster at the podium, which she found out.

"What's James doing? Did he get in trouble?" Kassandra whispered to Sirius, concern etched in her voice.

Sirius rolled his eyes playfully, "No, Spots. Prongs isn't in trouble, just be patient and watch."

Kassandra huffed in slight annoyance, but done as her twin brother told. Even if she didn't really appreciate being told what to do.

"Another year gone, I must say!" Said Dumbledore, his blue eyes crinkling as he looked around at the sea of students. "Before I end the term with some notices, and award the House cup, I have Mr. Potter, here, who would like to have a speech," Dumbledore had chuckled, eyes twinkling with amusement. "So dare I say it, let's sit back and listen to what the boy has to say, I assume it will be most illuminating."

Now, Kassandra was deeply intrigued. This has never happened before, and she couldn't help but wonder if this was some kind of prank the boys thought up without her. But as James began to speak, her mouth went dry and her heart started thumping wildly inside of her chest.

NERVOUSLY, James Potter chewed on his lower lip as Dumbledore began speaking. He knew it would soon be his turn to speak, a plan him, Sirius, and his father came up with over the Christmas holidays. If all turned out the way he hoped it would, he'd soon have the girl of his dreams, the girl he hadn't noticed his feelings for until recently, perhaps they were always there, he just didn't realize it or didn't want to realize it.

James took a deep breath, before he began to speak.

"I came up here for one reason, really, and the reasoning is to prove to this one very beautiful girl that I've fallen in love with her," James paused, he looked at Kassandra to see her eyes look down at the table. "Kassandra Black, perhaps I've always loved you, I don't know," he paused again as he noted Kassandra's eyes shoot back up, they were wide. "I didn't realize it until the kiss we shared, but I was too blind to make myself see it. I thought my eyes were only on Lily, sorry Lily, for bothering you all these years."

James smiled his cocky grin.

KASSANDRA WAS IN AWE, as she stared up at James. Her eyes wide, and she couldn't help but blush a deep shade of crimson as all eyes turned towards her. Lily Evans even gave her a short nod, signaling that everything was okay between the two. Lily was wrapped up in Lucas Meadows arms, so Kassandra didn't feel guilty for the way her heart was beating.

"I wouldn't blame you, if you wanted nothing to do with me, Kass. I used you, and that was wrong," James had sighed. "But I swear I'd do anything to make it up to you. I love you, Kassandra Lenora Black. Will you do the honors of being my girlfriend?"

All eyes were on Kassandra, as they awaited her answer.

Slowly, she got to her feet, and smiled. A bright genuine smile that seemingly lit up the room, much to everyone's surprise.

"Yes, you bloody idiot, yes!" Kassandra said with a grin, as she walked up to meet James.

Their lips connected, and it was unlike anything Kassandra had ever felt. Electricity seemingly went off, fireworks, and her whole body was on fire, in a good way. His lips tasted of peppermint, and she could smell his shampoo which she loved so much.

Applause erupted, bringing the two newly found lovers to pull away from each other and smile. Kassandra couldn't be happier than she was at this moment, and to those around her, they would say she has never been more beautiful than she was in this exact moment of pure bliss.

The two oblivious Gryffindor's were finally together at last.

They all needed happiness with the darker times that were coming. They all knew it, so they opted to hold on to the only amount of happiness they can find. Love, after all, is the greatest weapon, and the most powerful thing in the world.
