TEN • HOGSMEADE

(MORE LIKE TROUBLE)

The weekend was finally here, and dread was indeed in the pit of Kassandra's stomach. It was Hogsmeade weekend - James and her planned to spend the first half away from each other, since Kassandra and Sirius was still not on speaking terms. So for the first little bit, Kassandra would be by herself. It was the first time she hadn't accompanied her friends in Hogsmeade, and she didn't really know how to feel about it. Lonely, perhaps, or maybe even slightly depressed.

To be honest, she was a mess. She's never went so long without speaking to her twin brother, and the longer she went, the more depressed she became. It was like a never ending cycle, and she wanted it to all be over.

Before she could even make it to Honeydukes-where she was going to buy Remus some chocolate since he still wasn't at his best due to the full moon taking place just the other day-she was stopped by her younger brother Regulus, Severus Snape, Avery, Mulciber, and her cousin Bellatrix.

"Oh, look, here's the slag, all by her lonesome," Bellatrix cackled.

Kassandra froze, as she looked at her cousin in pure shock. Sure, her and Bellatrix had never gotten along, but she had never went out of her way to bully her either. Kassandra sent her a glare, before her eyes connected with her younger brother, whose eyes shown with guilt that only Kassandra noticed.

"Oh, shove off, Bella," Kassandra replied with a roll of her eyes.

Kassandra went to take a step around them, but they blocked her path. She arched an eyebrow, slightly wondering what they had planned to do. She was alone, yes, but she was not, and has never been, defenseless. She was not a damsel in distress, she could take care of herself. And that's perhaps why so many people considered Kassandra intimidating.

"Just having a little bit of fun, yeah?" replied Avery, as he took a step closer.

Kassandra scoffed, "Yes, and I'm late."

"For what? Shagging another one of your friends behind Potters back, yeah?"

"I'm not a slag, and you have no idea what your talking about, Avery," Kassandra snapped.

"Oh, poor, poor, Kassi. It'll never be you, you know? It'll always be Lily Evans," Bellatrix cackled once again with a mocking tone of voice.

Kassandra had enough of listening to them, especially with those words, she focused her attention on Regulus and Severus.

"Reggie," Kassandra started, using the nickname she's called him ever since they were younger. "I thought we were family, but obviously your mind is so muddled with pure blood thoughts thanks to our parents, but I have never once abandoned you."

"Oh yes she has, Regulus, don't listen to her!" Snapped Bellatrix, "she's a filthy blood traitor."

"You lost the right to call me that, Kassandra, the minute you left me alone to deal with our parents," Regulus said, though his eyes told a different story.

Deciding it wasn't worth it, she then turned towards Severus.

"And you, Severus. I deeply apologize for Lily, because I know you love her, but she loves J-James. But you have a chance to do the right thing, please do the right thing."

And with that, Kassandra turned her back on the group of Slytherin's, which was not the greatest idea ever. She should have learned her lesson when she had turned her back on Orion the day she was disowned. But she just wasn't thinking. She wanted out of there, before she broke down and shown weakness in front of the Slytherins who would surely use that against her.

"Stupefy!" Kassandra heard the Slytherins all shout, and before she could even register enough to cast a shield charm, she was hit.

The force of five stunning spells hitting her all at once, was enough to send her flying through the air, and she hit her head on the wall to Zonko's the joke shop where conveniently James, Peter, Sirius, and Remus where located. Her mind could only process one thing; James. Before everything went dark.

HEARING A CRASH FROM OUTSIDE THE JOKE SHOP, James Potter froze. Something inside of him told him it would not be a pretty sight if he were to go out there. He shared a Look with the other marauders, before they all simultaneously came to the same thought; Kassandra. Rushing out of the joke shop, their thought was proven to be true as his eyes locked onto the Slytherins who were cackling with laughter, and then his eyes landed on her.

She laid there, her long curly black hair strewn all over her face. A gash on the side of her head, where she had hit the wall. Her tiny frame slouched over as if she were only taking a peaceful nap, and he would have originally thought that, if it weren't for the gash, and the Slytherins laughter.

Anger coursed through his veins, but before he could even attempt to hex the bloody hell out of the Slytherin's, Sirius beat him to it, which surprised the marauders greatly, because they weren't even on speaking terms. But it goes to show how much Sirius Black cared about his twin sister, despite the rumor he created. And it touched James Potter's heart a great deal.

"What the bloody hell, Regulus? She was The only one who stood up for you!" Sirius barked out, anger prominent in his voice. "Expelliarmus!" He shouted as he pointed his wand in the Slytherins direction.

James watched in awe as each of their wands left their grasp, and went straight into Sirius' hand.

"While you take care of them, hex them for me, I'm going to take her to Madame Pomfrey," James rushed out, only getting a nod in return. "Moony, Wormtail, help me!"

The three Marauders lifted Kassandra up off the ground, and began carrying her towards the Hospital wing, leaving Sirius to take care of the Slytherins. James was incredibly worried for his best mate, not only had she agreed to fake date him, she was his best friend. And he was starting to feel things for her that he only ever felt for Lily Evans. And that terrified him.

Madame Pomfrey told the boys that she wasn't sure what damage would be caused, or when she would wake up, it all depended on her. So James pulled up a chair, and would not leave her side the entire night.
