Chapter 24

~Niall Horan~

I groaned as I stretched my arms, yawning, drawing the curtains to blinding light. A smile creeping onto my face as I unlock my phone, which was laying on the nightstand, to see I received a message from Alex, saying they would be here in 30 minutes.

I slip on a shirt and walk towards the kitchen to make myself a cup of tea. I walk into the kitchen to see 4 people whom I call my band mates or I'd rather say best friends.

"What are you doing here?" I ask whilst pouring my tea in the mug.

"That's a nice way to greet someone." Liam says and I just smile in return.

"Anyway, we're here because we've all received these tapes." Zayn says placing them on the table. "You got one too. It was at your doorstep so we picked it up." He adds.

"Why are they all numbered?" I ask taking notice of the numbers which were on the tapes. They were numbered from 1 to 5.

"I think that's for which order we listen to it. We were missing number 1 and we came here and found it on your doorstep." Harry explains.

"Let's listen to it then!" Louis exclaims.

~Alexis Kinley~

"Hi. Can I please have two cappuccinos?" Ella asks the waitress. After a few minutes we grab our drinks and walk towards Niall's place to tell them about the tapes.

In about 10 minutes we are in the elevator of Niall's building. I knock on his door a couple of times but no one answers. I twist the knob and open the door as it wasn't locked. When we enter Niall's place we hear voices and they sounded a lot like ours.

'We'll get them to Ben and Jerry's today. Be there on time.'

'Better hit one of them at least.'

The tape cut off. There was no sound. That was a first. They were never quiet, not even in their sleep. I tried look at them but they averted their gazes whenever my eyes tried to meet theirs. Their gazes were filled with distrust, confusion and betrayal.

"C'mon." Ella says but everyone still stays silent. "Y'all don't really think we'd do that you guys, do you?"

"What," Liam says, "So we're supposed to believe you over actual evidence? Voice proof?" His voice was hard, not at all the voice I've grown used to hearing.

"But you know us. You know we would never do that." I said desperately, fixing my gaze on the one person who should definitely believe me, trying to look at Niall. "Niall, you believe me, don't you?" He is my boyfriend, of course he'd believe me. He had to.

"Alex..." he sighed, shaking his head back and forth as if trying to clear it. He didn't know what to say. "I-"

"Don't you trust me, trust us?" I asked, the tears bout to fall any minute. He didn't reply.

"I trusted you Niall." I mumble.

"I can't believe you'd do that. You just got close to me so you could get close to everyone else as well. You played with my feelings. You had me going crazy about you and to think you actually liked me back. I was being an ass for believing that." Niall says. "We're done." He mumbles and backs away.

"Niall I-" I say.

"Save it." He says

"What the bloody hell are we supposed to think after hearing the tapes?" Liam exclaimed suddenly.

"Let us explain-" Ella says but was cut off by Liam.

"Y'all made it bloody clear what your plan was. It must have been your plan from the start. For all I know, you've been stringing us along this entire time. Stringing Niall too. Just to get close to us and in the end y'all end up being the ones who want to get rid of us." Liam says look at me and then glancing at Ella. "You know what? You both are the most selfish people in the world. We had to leave the people we love to go to this stupid countryside and this is what we get. You don't know what it's like to be away from your loved ones for long periods of time!"

That was too much. I felt the tears brim over as I glance at Ella. I have been away from my brother. But I have my parents. Ella, no one knows about her except me. No one knows what's she's been going through every day. She cries herself to sleep at night, she keeps blaming herself because of what happened to her mom. Her mom passed away when she was 16 in a car accident. When I met Ella in college she was a total wreck but then she started opening up to me. No one knows about her as much as I do.

"Liam." I say. "That wasn't wise. Stop talking." I say glancing at Ella. I see the tears falling down her face. I walk over to her and put one arm over her shoulder just to comfort her.

"No this is bloody ridiculous. We've been away from our parents, our siblings for almost three weeks because of this and what do we get in return, betrayal? Y'all have this perfect world over here with your families." Liam says.

"Liam, you don't understand –" I say and before I can finish Ella starts talking.

"You're right." Ella told him quietly. "I don't know what it's like to be away from my family. I don't what it's like to be in the biggest pop band ever, touring the world. Your away from your family but at least you can skype them, you can text them. I can't do that Liam. My mom's dead. I haven't seen her since I was sixteen. You don't know how lucky you are." Ella says and his eyes flickered with a bit of emotion but he still didn't back down.

No one was saying anything. Everyone was just staring at the ground. Dave was right, it's too late. They don't believe us now. I grabbed Ella's hand and walked out of Niall's place.

I knew why I was afraid of falling. This would happen in the end.

I was the kind of girl who was afraid of falling. Maybe it was because I thought they'd find another girl, or they'd cheat on me or they would just decide I wasn't good enough. Taking into consideration my past story I realized that it was useless trying to find love or a good guy for me.

And the worst part of all of this...

Tomorrow would have been our one month anniversary.
