Two or three hours later, I stepped out onto the porch. The sun had risen, and I shielded my eyes from the glare. The porch creaked as I took a step.

"You should ditch today," Dally said.

"No," I said back.

"Why? You scared?" he leaned against the porch railing, smirking. I shook my head.

"Fine. Where do you want to go?" I sighed. He thought for a second. I shifted my wait, hoping he would decide before Two-Bit came downstairs and found out I was going to skip school.

"I don't know. How bout' the Dingo, for breakfast," he finally answered. I nodded and followed him onto the sidewalk. The Dingo was a short walk, since it was on our side if town.

"So..." I began, a bit awkwardly, "I missed you. He tensed a bit beside me.

"Yeah. Can we not talk about the past?" he requested, a pained look on his face.

"Okay. I'm sorry," I said, falling silent. We walked in silence until we reached the restaurant. A blonde waitress seated us, and I noticed that Dally couldn't keep his eyes off of her. This bothered me for some strange, unknown reason.

~~~
"What would you like to eat?" the waitress asked as she leaned over Dally's shoulder to fill his glass. He smirked and a lock of her hair brushed against his cheek.
"I was thinking about the eggs, bacon, and a side of your number," he said somehow managing to keep a strait face. I buried my face in my menu, glaring at the list of specials. They blurred before my eyes. The waitress giggled and walked away, without taking my order.
"Um...did you forget something?" I asked, angrily, crossing my arms. She turned around and rolled her eyes at me before taking my order.
~~~

"Come back soon," the waitress said as we left. Dallas winked at her. I looked away before he could see my expression. I felt a kind of anger that I had never felt before. I couldn't explain it, even to myself.
