The gang stared at Dally and me for a second before Soda jumped up and shouted, "I knew you two were gonna become a couple!" We had just told them about us. It had been hard to explain, though. Right now, we were just hanging out and going on dates. He hadn't officially asked me to be his girlfriend yet.
"So, are you two like boyfriend and girlfriend?" Pony asked.
"I guess not, he hasn't actually asked me yet," I gave Dally a look. He sighed.
"Okay, fine. Jenny, will you be my girlfriend?" he asked. I nodded and he kissed me, in front of everybody. I blushed as someone said, "Aww," and then clapped.
"Oh, I forgot!" Dally exclaimed, pulling his ring off of his finger and sliding it onto mine. I slipped my hand into his and interlocked our fingers. So this is what it felt like to care about someone and know that they cared about you.
I stood up on my toes and kissed him again. He kissed me back and then slung his arm over my shoulders. I leaned against him. For once, everything was completely peaceful, at least it was, until the gang ruined the moment.
"What happens if you two break up? Won't it affect the entire gang?" Ponyboy said, "I mean you two would be avoidin' each other, which means we probably wouldn't see much of each other anymore. This just seems like a dumb idea to me."
"Ponyboy!"
"Pony, they ain't gonna break up. They look too happy together," Soda said. I hoped that Soda was right.
