A week went by, and I didn't talk to anyone. For days, I just sat alone crying. My eyes were red and puffy, and I knew Two-Bit and the rest of the gang was worried. Every day, they'd knock on my door and try persuading me to come out, but I wouldn't.
I lay there staring at the ceiling. There was a jagged crack running from one side to the other. It was funny to me that I hadn't noticed it before. Not funny like something I could laugh about, but you know what I meant.
I could hear footsteps padding down the short hallway and pausing in front of my door. I looked over wondering how long it would be before whoever it was gave up and left.
"Jenny?" a quiet voice asked.
"Are you okay?" asked another voice, "Jenny, please open the door." I don't know why, but I was tired of being alone all of a sudden. I shakily stood up and obeyed the second voice. Pony and Johnny stood there looking surprised.
"I'm fine," I said.
"What happened?" Pony asked.
"Never mind. It's not important," I responded.
"Are you sure?" Johnny asked.
"N...no," I whispered, bursting into tears.
Dally's POV
~~~~~~~~~
I stared at the cold, gray, cement wall of the jail cell. Maybe if I didn't think about Jenny, I could be just like it. An emotionless hunk of rock. I had learned long ago that showing emotion was a sign of weakness, so why had I let myself fall in love with her?
As hard as I tried, I couldn't get her out of my mind. I could hear her voice, telling me it was over, and I could see her walking away, dragging my heart along with her. Why had I let her go?
Then, I remembered running and smashing a car's windshield. The glass sprayed everywhere, as if it were a liquid, lying in shattered fragments across the parking lot. The car's owner yelled at me, but I didn't care. Already, I could hear sirens in the distance. I willingly went with the police. Being stuck in jail was better than having to be around Jenny after that night.
